hopefully they get rid of the glitch that allows chat users to load bots in a room, its pretty ridiclous my fav room is nothing but filled with bots loaded by a certain user and none of the regs can get into the chat room anymore.. they need to fix this issue.

Well this sure fixed things…. On the OSX version, the list of chatters in the room has disappeared, the Capcha login is different….. and basically it is 100% useless now (as opposed to 50% useless before)
There is no way to tell WHO is in the room, or to chat with anyone, because you can’t see them!

As Dave stated for Mac messenger the login in very annoying, a web window pops up which you have to close once logged in then the list of people in the room is gone. Once I got in the people showing up were you guessed it BOTS! Doesn’t anyone run a test before they implement these so called updates?
Mac messenger has been in Beta 3 for what 4/5 years now? How hard is it to get the version complete. Also include PHOTOSHARE on the final Mac version!

I dont want you to offend you guys or yahoo people but your team and yahoo at large has become one of the biggest tech failures in the world.
Yahoo Messenger used to be the most popular and used chat service and look at it now.
Your engineers cant even put together a plan to prevent bots or even release a non beta version for Macs after a few years
I wont be surprised if yahoo goes belly up in the next few years

Sadly, the “improvement” to Yahoo Chat seems to have deleted the Chatters’ List on my iMac running OS 10.5.8.
The good news is that the number of bots, while not eliminated, are cut dramatically.
Please, if anyone has an idea how to get the chatters’ list back, let me know.

I have a MAC…. after switching, I was somewhat disappointed in not being able to use File Share… not being able to see who i have ignored… not being able to see who in the room has a cam running…. not being able to hear anyone on a mic ….but NOW.. with last night’s update.. i now can no long see who is in a chat room!

I tried emailing them about the chatter list problem with Mac and they asked for a error message. There isn’t one it just is gone. Glad i’m not the only one. It’s frustrating. I’ve gotten no reply from the extra information I sent them. How can a company run this way?

Well, at least most of the bots (not all ) are gone, so far….. that is the first positive thing i’ve seen in nearly 10 years of using chat Hopefully they will have a patch for the Mac users soon…. I second the desire for the ORIGINAL classic profiles, not all this social networking BS

Incorrect Julie bot programs are still in working order 100%. Yahoo! needs to either change the damn captcha system making you enter 2 captchas before entering chat or make it so your id gets chat banned for the 12/24 hour temp ban, if it sees the same ip address under two names in the same room. Actually fix something that’s more serious at hand Yahoo! Messenger Team, even though it seems like you guys do nothing that actually is positive for Yahoo!

This sucks. ALL of the chat clients are STILL down, from a scheduled maintenance TWO DAYS AGO! Ytunnel’s website won’t even load, chat doesn’t work. What the hell is going on? I’ve been chatting for over 10 years with Yahoo cuz they were the best around… what happened? You used to do upgrades in the middle of the night, so the impact was as little as possible. Now I realize the amount of people who use Yahoo has vastly increased, but you would think with THAT increase, the tech support/engineering dept geeks would of increased also. Please, from a loyal subscriber, FIX YOUR ISSUES!
Oh and I second the whole GO BACK TO THE OLD PROFILES! This Pulse crap sucks. Half the profiles don’t even work.

Hey yahoo, I noticed that none of the statements made whenever yahoo decides to break, or in yahoo speak “maintain/upgrade/update”, something does it ever mention customer service/satisfaction. Is yahoo trying to drive away users? Does anyone from yahoo ever read what users post? Why doesn’t yahoo ever post an update whenever the users point out a serious issue or at least respond?

The new captcha text in the messenger rooms is not a big deal right now, but the spam bots will quickly find a way around that. In fact, some already have.
The big problem, is that the Mac version of messenger now appears to be useless in the chat rooms. The people list is missing completely! I can ignore people all day long, but their IMs and text still come through strong.
As someone else mentioned, customer satisfaction is very low right now.

It is very disappointing to find that one of the most popular-if not THE most popular chat vehicle – is no longer performing well (if at all !). There are virtually millions of Yahoo Messenger clients who have faithfully ‘’stuck by” Yahoo no matter how many interruptions/upgrades/etc etc Yahoo saw fit to inflict on us. How difficult is it to fix a tech problem? Let’s face it, if some high school kid can hack into high security computers surely the geeks @ yahoo can fix their problems which I’m sure are nowhere as problematic,intensive or extensive. I’ve been a client of Yahoo messenger for about 12 years; if Yahoo doesnt get its act ”together” I’ll be deleting Yahoo messenger

Another frustrated Mac user. So with the kludge of a CAPTCHA verification, and the lack of a user list in the chat rooms, I broke down and installed messenger on a windows box. Imagine my disappointment when almost every thing broken for chat rooms on Mac works just fine on Windows. Why can’t Yahoo make clients for both that work? Oh I did find another difference. My buddy lists are different between Mac and Win. SOME show up on Mac but not Win and vice versa. Some show up on both. I’m guessing that the Mac and Win dev teams are forbidden to talk and compare their work.

If a live person ever reads its followers comments….Issues might get fixed….Missing certain features of yahoo chat rooms… but http://www.camfrog.com def is on the trak for new improved chat rooms…not that yahoo would care…since this likely hood of some guy in hut in with minimal english abilities will be sending an auto response telling me nothing to do with the issue I requested help with just like…. “Dell”…!!!! Reason I went MAC… and never went back….

I wanna JOIN da complaints!!! LOL Any maintenance done by Yahoo never does any reverse or historic engineering. The so called progress never considers the inclusion of what was or how to blend it.
First off, Yahoo doesn’t want any 3rd party clients to be used, ask the programmers & creators of the 3rd party clients.
Yahoo’s goal is to be open to ALL to do WHATEVER & SAY WHATEVER they want. You guys out there, make a female ID & just see some of the abuse women take when in Yahoo messenger alone. Oh & btw, the iggy bin in Yahoo? You can fill it surfing 3 chatrooms – lol.
As far as the bots, myth has it that the porn bots PAY Yahoo to “rent” space to advertise in Yahoo chatrooms. No proof of that, but ya know it sure makes sense that there are so many bots, that, or WAY to many men that can’t get laid.
As far as free chat clients? There are several, if you are looking for boring “hometown” chat. Go to Win Bus, you can create a room of your own. Or Pal Talk, Woo Me or In Speak.
We all get frustrated when things go crazy & I would hope, like ALL of you do, that Yahoo listens to the complaints. But you have to realize what we want doesn’t count or Yahoo would change to incorporate some of the privacy & protection that the 3rd party clients offer. Yahoo’s goal is to open it to all, to do what they please, calling it “networking”, “meeting people from afar” – lol.
Even tho I’m here for the freak show & to laugh at people that take chat too seriously, I, too, would like the regular functions to work. Maybe one day that will happen.

Is it too much to ask, to get an update now and then as to what is going on? It would be nice to know if chat is actually being upgraded, or just a way to let it go down the drain. I paid good money for ytunnel, and I would have paid it to Yahoo if it had been available from you. On the other hand, if Yahoo was on the ball, they would fix the problems addressed by ytunnel and no one would need a third party client….many of us might even pay for chat free of bots, booters, spammers and flooders.

Why did you destroy the chat rooms for Mac users? They are basically non functional now. You have to go through this bizarre process to sign in, once you get to the room you cannot see who is actually in the room (kind of a problem I would think!), and oh yeah, bots are still there! I would hope you are actually going to fix this problem and not just leave it for Yahoo Mac.

Pretty amazing, I put some instructions on the blog so we can use ytunnel to access chat rooms….they removed them…ain’t that special?
Here it is again..let’s see if they take it off again.
Don’t know what happened to YTunnel’s site, but I found a way to get into rooms while using it. Turn off Room Buster and Chat Validation and you can get in. Yes if the room’s full you’ll have to reload it manually but it’s better than not being able to use it at all..

Y!Tunnel’s dead. Might as well move on now as using Y!Tunnel isn’t a very good idea since it has several unpatched critical vulnerabilities. Your PC can be easily compromised using these vulnerabilities so use it at your own risk.

Before anyone asks yes these vulnerabilities have been disclosed to the Y!Tunnel author. However, these reports were never acted upon and it’s still not fixed. Should just disclose them to various security websites and let others have at them, perhaps the author would care then?

I just find it funny how the 99% of you who complain in here still continue to use Yahoo Messenger. Let me provide some simple steps for you:
1. Shut up
2. Click Start
3. Go to your Control Panel
4. Go to “Add/Remove Programs” or “Programs and Features”
5. Scroll down the list until you find Yahoo! Messenger
6. Uninstall
7. Close all windows
8. Turn off computer
9. Grab TV remote
10. Channel surf

whether it’s sad or not, some people have made online relationships with other people throughout the years because of yahoo chat. it used to be a nice place to meet people. and it sucks to see something that used to be great being run into the ground. simply deleting yahoo messenger is the easiest option. but for people who want to keep in touch and enjoy using the rooms it’s not that simple.

Yep that is a pretty good fix, however you probably are not a shut in. Some of us folks are not able to leave home, for the most part live alone, and use chat as a means to communicate with others. There are variety of illness etc. that make it impossible to leave home, so Joe get your smart comments don’t fit everyone….you too may someday be the same shape.

Since the death of yahoo IM for Macs, I have been trying out Adium using some of the IRC chat rooms. I used to use IRC a lot years ago. Also Also, Adium does a better job connecting to yahoo rooms than yahoo messenger does. It still has the stupid catcha via a web page but at least it shows the participant list. Isn’t it a bit strange that yahoo has this difficult catch authentication but it still bots outnumber real people 2:1 ?

As a mac user, I don’t want anything special, and I’m not pissed at the lack of customer service or anything, I’m more disappointed that they offer something that is broken.
I would GLADLY pay a fee for the client, or a small monthly charge as long as they could get this to work properly without any bots.

Heck doesnt matter if you have Yazak, Ytunnel or nothing,, half a chat room has sound and the other half doesnt. There is no common link in chat, as all have something different. Some with just yahoo cant get sound,and some can, some with yazak get sound and some dont. some with 11 have sound ,,some dont. so take from that whatever you want.
