This is way overdue and Yahoo really needs to upgrade chat and attract a better class of people. There are so many porn ‘bots’ and other types that should be filtered by yahoo.The filter in the old days that was server side when you could not use certain words to make a name.
It has become way too easy for yahoo to say ‘just ignore’..if you have to ignore..too late.
When you iggy a name in chat it stays on the screen so if it is filthy you still see it. Yahoo needs to be on the side of the good guys again.
The past two months in yahoo have been the worst in my 12 years of chatting.

Autumn, I do agree with you 100%. I stopped using the chat rooms years ago when the porn bots started really taking over Yahoo. It’s so bad that they now IM you directly. I can only imagine how bad it is right now.
Really, Yahoo should just follow suit and close out the entire system in general.

Just do not worry about hosting chatrooms. Close them forever so the chat abusive peoplewill have nothing to insult hiding behind the keyboard. Chat rambos need to understand noone cares about how they can insult.

Oh ya one more thing. Discontinue the 3rd party clients that are violation of your TOS. Block their use using special unique inclusive codes to Yahoo! Messenger coding that is random and proprietary to Yahoo! Messenger. Make it so these codes generated by the Yahoo! Messenger installer assign a unique identifier that your servers looks for before accepting any log-in from ALL users. Encrpyt them with encryption that 3rd party client developers cannot acquire.

we have ideots using the mic and now allowing others to talk, cuz they got mass iggyed by a bullys bots.
go to Tops and Bottoms room 1. the dude named UK thinks he is god. sombody take him down :O he and his friends controle that room, shouldent be happening, it ruins the rooms for all.

It took Yahoo Team to fix this vulnerabilities around chat. This sticky names using @ovi profile id, which is nothing new was hyped by other abusers to lock and fill rooms was around for years. I don’t know if the team actually included this on their maintenance and fix this special technique (which is I am aware of and capable of doing using not only this ovi trick) of sticking names in rooms.
Another vulnerabilities are those exploit which are not in public yet where in the said user can take over another user’s account using their cookies, which is another problem for Yahoo.

should just be banned outright its easy to detect-anyone sending messeges at more then five ims per second banned-botta-bing botta boom

seen this new trick lurking around yahoo room wherein they are removing chat room. With regards to this trick it’s rather old maybe those names (boot.sector and RT) you mentioned figured it out and revived the exploit.
let’s hope yahoo had the fix to this. : -)

Just recently joined the yahoo messenger family. To my disappointment, every (and I do mean every) chat room was filled with people discussing matters of a sexual nature….even in the christian chat rooms. I was flabbergasted. I was hoping to find someone with whom I could discuss matters that are serious and important to me. Please filter out the unsolicited sexual content.
