4. i love the app the video quality is surprisingly well over 3g. my only complain is the messenger list i have 90% of my contact list nicknamed so most my list i do not know because of there being no option to display nicknames as they are shown on the regular yahoo messenger. oh and ability to click on the thumbnail picture to see it also would be cool

   A few questions still outstanding (maybe you can answer) – what’s going on with the Mac client? Do you for see an update coming soon? Do you see this app kicking off more business for Yahoo voice? Also, many of us would love to video chat with family members that have macs. Any thing you can say about that?

11. I was so excited to finally be able to video chat with my Girlfriend using my iPhone while I’m away from home. What a complete disappointment when I found out that iPhone to Mac doesn’t work (something not mentioned in the Yahoo marketing hype!).

    Please can we have an update to the Mac desktop client to allow this? It’s been stagnant for so long now with no real feature updates since beta 2 in 2007! I’m really disappointed.

    I’m not sure I havent tested this with a mac, I got rid of my mac about a few months ago, but when I did have it I just used the latest release or parellels desktop to run the windows version in a separate window…thats what I would suggest if your running on a mac…

13. I have iPhone 3G with iOS 4.1 and voice calls works.
    BUT video call don’t work. When I click on that webcam in y!mess for iPhone, the app just quit itself.
    Same when I click on answer when someone video calls me.

    It’s a bug or video call will not work with iPhone 3G?

    Previously I have sending problems with the old version (send messages failed) but can receive message. Now with the latest version 2.0, worse I log in and without 1 minute, the app just close itself and go to my home screen.

21. Nice App for iOS however your feature set seems to be vague.
    Will you provide specifics on Mac OS support for video? Your promo video states that this will connect via video to “any of your contacts, anywhere”. Is this true? I noticed that the video function is NOT active in the interface.

    If not, could you take down the video promo and augment the copy in the website to reflect current functionality? Let try not to be misleading on product features until ready for release.

27. Yahoo… wake up… Apple is shipping over 4MILLION Macs a quarter these days. How can you support iPhone 4 to PC and not MAC? Makes no sense.

    As for everyone whining about iPhone 3G etc…. the video API does work with both front facing and rear cameras… but it’s doesn’t make a lot of sense to support rear cameras ’cause you can’t see yourself and the other person without a front facing camera. Logically, it just does make sense. Not to mention the processor in the older phones probably can’t handle it.

    So buy an iPhone 4 if you want to do video calls from your phone.

Ok here is my situation for one i love this new technology its wonderfull to have this feature so im on 3gs and my bro is on 4g he has the option to voice and video to me and it works perfect but on my 3gs they are greyscale…… So i cant initiate the call only he can is this normal or do i just need to chill and wait for the update appreciate the help

44. First, to all the whiners about video being grayed out on your iPod Touch, it’s coming. It’s been mentioned by Yahoo that it’s coming. Quit complaining and get on with your everyday lives!

    Also, Yahoo Messenger needs to focus on adapting more features of Windows 7 like AIM, Windows Live, and Skype have done.

53. iPhone 4, IOS 4.1, Yahoo messenger signs in ( my desktop messenger signs out ) but nothing happens after that. after a long pause yahoo messenger disappears. If i try to launch it again the same thing happens.

    Tried with both 3G and wifi, restarted the phone and tried with both again but it doesn’t seem to be able to get past the “connecting” stage.

72. Kudos to the video, but PLEASE update the app so that users can CHANGE THE ALERT SOUND when a message comes in! This was requested way back in 2009 for v1.2.1!

    The sound is too shrill and loud, esp. compared to the sound Apple uses for an incoming SMS message. Even a volume setting would be welcome!

    Fans have also requested a feature for assigning different sounds for different friends, which would be great. But first PLEASE let us change or tone down that alert sound!

    Login using GPRS/EDGE produces the error message: Can not log in, please try again later.
    Login using WiFi works, thought.

    I followed the steps to uninstall, reboot, reinstall from AppStore. No difference.

    But it seems that there is a problem in the communication between Yahoo contacts and MSN contacts … for some reason I can’t communicate with some of my MSN friends using Yahoo Messenger for iPhone, I can receive their messages .. but they can’t receive mine for some reason … This issue didn’t show up before 2.x … anyone having the same problem ?!

81. On my iPhone the messenger application is always stuck at “Connecting…” and does not go any further. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it again but still the same.
    When I start the application, a few seconds later i can hear a music clip (1-2 sec) but then nothing else and it is always stuck at “Connecting…”

    it doesnt notify me when any message coming, unless i am in the app (Yahoo Messenger) itself.

    already turn on “NOTIFICATION” in “Settings” Menu.

118. It would be nice if Yahoo Messenger for iPhone had a way to clear the last user signed in. I like to keep my sign ins clear just for security reasons. It would be nice to clear the username field.

119. You can either email them or send them a bug report asking them to let you change it once more and be apologetic about the situation. The last resort is to open a new account all together though it can be hectic redoing everything from scratch including adding friends back on

     I have yahoo messenger on my Iphone 4, however when I chat to my friends they can see me but I cant see them ?????? why is this. how can this problem be fixed? we can hear each other but they can see me and i cant see them

     but when I use my laptop we have no issues in seeing each other ?
