Setting up voice and video in Yahoo! Messenger 10

If you’ve upgraded to Yahoo! Messenger 10 or got a new webcam recently, chances are you’ll want to try out the high-quality voice and video call features.
As a first step, we recommend that you complete the “Voice and Video Setup” steps to ensure that your microphone, speakers/headphones, and webcam are working properly.
To get started, click on the Messenger menu and select “Preferences”. When the Preferences window opens, click “Video & Voice” on the left hand menu. This will bring up your options on the right hand side:
If you know immediately which devices you want Yahoo! Messenger to use for your camera, microphone etc., just select them in the drop down menu. Depending on your type of computer and other software or hardware you have installed, you may only have one or many options available.
For a guided setup, click the “Open Voice and Video Setup” link in the Preferences window. This will take you through three setup steps where you can select the devices you want to use for your microphone, speakers/headset and webcam. After selecting each one in the setup, you’ll be able to test and confirm they are working.
Once you’ve successfully completed the Voice and Video Setup steps, you’ll be ready to start making free PC-to-PC calls, full-screen video calls and even calls from Messenger to regular and mobile phones (premium account required). You can also click the “Place a free test call” link in the Preferences window to try out the voice feature.

Does this new video work with the Mac version? A friend of mine got a new system (and the upgrade) and had trouble making it work with my system (a Mac).
Also is there any working being done on the Mac version?
(I will keep asking this until i hear some kind of answer!)

Again ill say that the video quality is BLURRY in video calls with most of the users i make video calls with.
also i got a video capture programme webcammax and i wonder why in video call setup it doesnt recognize webcammax as a webcam source?? while in regular webcam it does recognize webcammax as a video source?? can u fix that and make video call setup recognize it???

As a frequent user, i do enjoy the video and voice features. There are certain fixes that need to be considered. Sometimes when I am video and voice with another user, my call hangs up randomly. Hopefully this will be fixed on the next update. Continue to take Yahoo Messenger to another level !

hi, i was down loading the new version.
Since then its not working anymore. and i m getting always the message about the maintenance which was on the 2 of march. but now we have the 19. of march.
what can i do, that the messenger will be working again, specially the videocall. i will be thankful if u could help me.

When I talk After 5 m. in yahoo messenger in my LAPTOP does not work is hung and when be restart must be locked from key on/off by pressing 10-12 seconds to start all LAP

I tried on the same way what you said,
My microphone is working ok, see the same way I am able to talk in google talk no problem.
still my voice call icon is disabled

I am using yahoo messenger 10.0.0.1270-us.when i try to call a video call or a voice call,its showing me a error message, i.e “Your computer is not connected to the network”.plzz help me…

I also use IMCapture for Yahoo Messenger which allows me to record audio and video in different formats and high quality.
I recommend it.
