I think yahoo messenger is ok in the appearance but has a serious bug in WIndows XP where when you get mail and you go to check your mail it freezes up display properties so I am sticking with yahoo messenger 8.1 . In my Dell laptop which runs vista I dont have this issues so I think yahoo needs to address this issue in order for me to have yahoo messenger 10 on my Compaq machine which runs XP home

In the office I don't use yahoo messenger frequently but when I have to send a message or read an incoming one I quickly close the message window by pressing Alt-Spacebar and then "n" to minimize. I also do that to maintain privacy. I don't use the mouse because that is not quick enough. With this new version I can no longer do that. I really need this "feature". It is something basic that every standard application has. Did you test this with focus groups or similar (and close to real scenarios)? currently I'm having to do Alt-Tab or Alt-C, Left Arrow, "N" while I look for a version 9 installer and restore my previous version.

Always been happy with Yahoo until this version which logs in and out every few mins which effectively means I have stopped using it and gone back to MSN.... at least MSN works.

Using the new YM 10.0.0.1241-US version. The keyboard shortcut to MINIMIZE and MAXIMIZE do not work with both YM App and individual chat windows. The workaround is to press Alt-M followed by Left Arrow followed by 'n' ket. Anyone know about a patch or a fix to this problem?

an additional observation about yMessenger 9 and 10.... I notice that the LOG-ON/off/ON-Off problem is not as severe on computers using XP as it is on VISTA or WIN7 systems..... For those vista and win7 users, my suggestion is only: stick with version 8 untill Yahoo solves this problem with their 9 and 10 versions.

I tried to log onto yahoo messenger and couldn't so I had to download messenger 10. That went well. I tried logging in and it let me, I saw an offline message and the today window, and all my contacts, then immediately a window told me that windows had to shut it down. What is up with that?

This version is also causing crash in Win 7 with MSVCR80.dll version 8.0.50727.4927 even though the install was successful. I did check winsxs and see it there as well as 4 other version. Then I copied this dll to system32 folder. Now we wait.

Good luck with everyone else.
