The iPad is coming. What’s your take?

Unless you’ve been hiding under an analog rock today, you’ve come across the news about Apple’s new iPad device, due to hit stores in a couple of months.
The iPad is essentially a giant iPhone – 9.7-inch display, half-inch thick, and weighing in at just a pound and a half. It runs the iPhone OS on it so all the same apps you use on your iPhone, like Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone, will be available for the iPad. And several of the native apps like Mail and Calendar have been redesigned for the larger screen.

One feature that’s missing: a built-in camera. Even the iPhone has one. I was envisioning video calls on the iPad or being able to broadcast live video from it. Perhaps Apple will add one in a future release but some are wondering, could no camera be an iPad killer?
Do you plan to buy an iPad when it comes out? Take the poll below or leave a comment.

No Camera is a crime… so easy and cheap to be included….i was really looking forward to the yahoo messenger app getting an overhaul for that functionality. Hopefully the next rev of iphone with have front facing camera. (could still enable people to view others like fring app)
Also back to the ipad, no inbuilt usb port, no multi tasking, and no flash support. Hopefully the last two will get fixed with iphone os4.0 but the announcement today while shedding light on what might be a good product in the future just isnt there yet. (kinda like original iphone with only a few apps until iphone 3g came along and did it right)
If yahoo were doing something with Ipad, it should be a seperate app from the iphone version i feel. It could have with a lay out somewhat like the mail app with contacts on the right hand side and conversation on the left (with potential for multile chat windows better photosharing, one way video call yahoo games etc with all the extra space)
By the way is voice support and video calling (even one way ala fring) coming anytime soon to yahoo messenger on iphone?

From what I have seen & read @Apple.com it looks quite nice.
As you stated lets hope that Apple in the future will add the camera feature by some means to the iPad.
People will probably be rushing to the stores when its release for sale just like the iPhone.

No multitasking. Fail.
No flash when web browsing. Fail.
iTunes and the iPad video app still won’t support other common media container formats like: AVI, MKV, DIVX, WMV, and FLV. Fail.
No 1080p. Fail.
Screw the iPad. It’s an iPod Touch for old people who squint when looking at an iPod Touch.

BTW, no camera will not be an iPad killer. Thanks to the iCult these iPads will sell like hot cakes even though it’s just a gutted smart-phone with a larger display.
The reason there’s no camera is because something has to entice people to buy the 2nd gen iPad when Steve Jobs proclaims, “we listened to the features you wanted: here’s your camera.”

this is a missing link between the smartphone and laptops but it needs a lot of modification..

Nothing much different from iPod touch/iPhone. Only bigger screen can’t make a revolution.

Its too small, just like the other netbooks, there too small. They alook very hard to figure out a way to carry them around and sence im male a handbag is out of the question lol. Your money will be better spent on a full sized laptop,no limitations that way.

The reason Apple did not include a webcam.
So, they can shove it down as version 1.1 after a year.. and keep the demand up.. no other reason. Remember, whenevery they create a product, they will lay out a road map. of whats coming in the following versions.. top secret ofcourse.
