Quick tip: Next / Previous message shortcut

January 13, 2010 on 1:39 pm | In 10 version, Features | 11 Comments

Here’s a feature you may have stumbled across accidentally while using Yahoo! Messenger 10

While you’re having a conversation in the IM window, you can use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to access previous messages you’ve sent.

To try it, hit the “Up” arrow on your keyboard when the cursor is in the IM window message box. The last message you sent to that contact will appear.

Hit it repeatedly and you’ll go back to your earlier messages sent; use the down arrow key to move forward through your messages.

I have found this feature handy when I need to resend a message to someone, or need to grab an earlier message I sent upon opening a new, blank conversation.

  3. This is a very old feature for yahoo messenger. Even b4 8.1. I love that feature when I had a computer, that’s like almost 3 years.

  6. I’m digging messenger despite these few issues i’m having with it. First off, the voice doesn’t connect in chatrooms. and then second, When I talk to somebody in the messenger window or in a chatroom. The text is so far apart. Every other line shows a username. This needs to be fixed.

  8. So when I set the messenger text format in the window on yahoo messenger 10, will it stay that way? Also, what about the voice issue in the chatrooms? When i hit the voice button in the rooms. It doesn’t come on.

  9. I have one more question reguarding Messenger 10, is there any possible way to disable the call history window that pops up after signing in each time? It doesn’t stay that way, it just pops up after I login.

  10. @xheart – Is the call history window appearing because you have missed calls? Or is it just popping up for no reason? If you have missed calls, there is no way to not make it pop up.

  11. It is popping up for no reason and I have no missed calls. This needs to be fixed. It is only happening on one account that I can see. The call history window doesn’t pop up on my other accounts. Do you want my sn that it is happening on?
