Did you get a new iPhone over the holidays?

Happy New Year to everyone! We hope you had a nice holiday season with your friends and family.
We came back from break and found there was a huge spike in downloads of our Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone app over the holidays.
Did you get a new iPhone recently? If yes, how are you enjoying your new phone?
If you’ve tried Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone, what do you think of it? Is there anything you would you like to see added or changed?

i really love the app since if first came out. A couple of things I’d like to see added are the ability to set stealth settings on a per friend basis rather than globally. Second, being able to have the contacts & messages pages display in landscape would also be helpful.
Thanks

Hi !
.
Any thoughts of making an app for S60 5th edition phones ?? I use Yahoo!Mail and Messenger a lot for 7 years and I’m 16 now with Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and I’d really appreciate it
Thanx and have a nice day ^_^

i really doubt that they will. maybe theres hope for android unless they block compeditors but forget s60(aka symbian) cause it just like windows mobile(out of date client that doesnt work anymore)

Please focus on speed. I really don’t care about any more fancy features and dancing monkeys on the screen unless the app starts up quickly and lets me respond to message when receiving a notification. I am running a 32GB GS so it must be even worse for other generation phones. Thanks.

First of all Sarah, thanks for the app. I’ve used the app since version 1.0, looks and feels great but there are some issues and some key features you have ignored.
Let me remind you that i’ve posted on every update you’ve made to the app but only a few were fixed / added.
Add:
1. Ability to set the idle status back, let us chose the the time before your status changes to idle, when you exit the app, or chose and option to disable it, like the pc version acts. i believe it’s not that hard.
2. Make the app remember the status messages you have set along time. A recent status list.
3. Stealth settings per contact. (this is a must be done) I personaly use the pc version a few times a month and it’s so uncomfortable when you had set a person to invisible and you want to appear online again to that contact. I need to log back on my pc, set that person to “appear online” then log back in on to my iphone. This is not an easy task but i’m sure you’ll figure it out somehow. (beejive and im+ can do this!)
4. Add more emoticons to that list. I mean the pc version has a large list of emoticons, but the iphone app only has a few of those, please!
5. Add a few push notifications sounds. Let this be the default sound but add a few more so we can chose a sound we like. Personally i find the current sound very annoying, and i’m sure i’m not the only one that feels this way.
Issues:
1. Copy / Paste within the conversation. You cannot copy nor paste one single character from a conversation. I’ve requested this since day one, but nothing has changed. Please fix this.
2. Correct timestamp on incoming messages. I have received ims but they appeared as sended when i have opened the app, not when the other person sended that im.
3. Make the whole conversation visible when you chat with a certain contact. If you send more then 10 ims and receive 5 you cannot see what you have received in the first line. Please add button “SEE WHOLE CONVERSETION” or make it visible at all times.
Thanks for reading this, and i hope i’ll find some of these requests in a future update.

I love using Yahoo Messenger on my 32gb ipod touch. It’s easier to keep in touch with my friends now since i can chat wih them anytime without having to use a computer. I would like to recommend adding several features that would make the app better.
1) The ability to see the whole conversation list when chatting with a person. As of now, the app only keeps the most recent messages and deletes the old ones. I would recommend you guys to either keel the entire conversation in one session or add a ’show entire conversation’ button.
2) The ability to change my stealth settings for specific friends. I usually appear online to a selected circle of friends while staying invisible to others. I would like to see this feature added in the next update.
I believe my suggestions wil improve the app. Thank you for reading this comment.

I agree with all the features requested by Darell. Mostly I really need the idle feature back and the ability to chose from multiple notification alerts because the current one is freaking me out! ( too high and noisy )
Also the ability to disable the automatic signin would be a good adition to the app. There are times when I want to sign in as invisible and I can’t do this since the last time I used messenger I left the status as available.
Voice would be a nice adition too
Nice work building the Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone! I really love it! Have a happy new year! <:-p

I agree with the others on the ability to adjust stealth settings, that would be great. Also, on the Windows version, I usually adjust stealth settings by group, so it would be awesome if I could do that on the iPod Touch as well.
Also, many people have multiple YM identities (for work, leisure, whatever) and it would be good if the app could remember several ID’s and passwords, so the user doesn’t have to type them in each time.

Hello Team,
My iPhone version takes forever to loggin now. Before the update didnt take as long. I also dont get half my IM’s now (alot of iPhone users I know are having the same problem). Is there a fix for this coming soon?
Thanks
Comment by Chris — January 22, 2010 #
When I rotate from portrait to landscape, then back to portrait during an IM conversation, visual artifacts occur which cut off the right side of each IM line. This occurs with every version of Yahoo I’ve used on an iPhone 3GS.

Iphone is amazing generation for some people. but for it’s crazy thing because I have been finding something to mad for share with people about my Iphone during my holiday.

I am not able to access my iphone contact list, i am on version 1.3.1. Also it would be nice to have the correct timestamp on messages. Otherwise it works great, i go back and forth between IM and SMS with friends with no problems.
Comment by ryan — January 27, 2010 #
I would like to be abe to archive conversations, now only possible on the pc version.
Also, during a long conversation messages dissapear, this is annoying
Another bug/feature is that when I receive a new message the timestamp for that message is always equal to the time I open the app…even when the message is sent to me hours earlier whilst being off-line.
Last, the app is a bit slow on my Iphone 3G, it sometimes takes a minute or longer to start up.
Comment by Michiel — February 1, 2010 #
Unbearably slow to load conversations even on wifi. On iphone 3gs. Terrible. Takes 10 seconds for me. This happened with the last update.
