Final reminder: Versions 6 – 7.5 end September 30

September 28, 2009 on 10:58 am | In 10 version, 9.0 version, News | 10 Comments

As mentioned in several previous posts, we will be retiring Yahoo! Messenger versions 6.0 through 7.5 this Wednesday, September 30.

This means that if you are currently using a version of Yahoo! Messenger that is below 8.0, you will no longer be able to sign in and use it after September 30.

If you are using a version that is set to retire, you have several options for continuing to use Yahoo! Messenger. Please read this article for more information.

Today I am not seeing the yahoo messenger inside my yahoo mail login.
So, is it removed from yahoo mail?
Is there any other way to get yahoo messenger thru webpage?

    Regards,

  3. I keep getting the Yahoo! Admin notification: You are using an older version of Yahoo! Messenger….. I have already downloaded the new version. To stop this message I went to download it again and got confirmation that I had already downloaded the new version. How to I stop these notices coming every minute now. This is very annoying

  4. Well, its September 30th , not “After September 30th”, and I can’t log in. Perhaps you should have mentioned that you would cut off Linux users today instead of tomorrow. Goodbye Yahoo I guess, Hello competition. (Since you guys never bothered to give Linux users an upgrade option) Ciao.

  6. ok i guess you mean that the operating systems that are older than winxp can’t use your messenger. i have windows 98 se i can’t afford to buy a new computer or upgrade to win xp so no other options but to try to use version 7.0.2.120 but now its not logging in so i guess i have no options but to not use yahoo messenger good bye yahoo its dead. you have really killed the chatrooms and the socializing network.

  8. I see today my yahoo is shut down. I have dial up service. I have tried several times to download different version of your yahoo upgrade to no avail. I also asked for HELP from Yahoo… entering in what was tried for the download, the error messages received, etc. I did this at the end of August… I’ve heard absolutely NOTHING FROM YOU! Is that what you call cusomter service???

  9. You should retire versions 8 too, because have the same GUI like did Y! Mess 7.5. It’s 7.5 with other name ..8.0. You americans dont complain about having no money to buy a new pc. I live in Moldova a he poorest country in Europe and I can afford a new PC. You cant say that in America you dont..

  10. Ce pasa mi-e daca locuiti in Moldova, nu e la fel. Sunt din America si Republica Dominicana, in others countries operating systems and computers are sold much cheaper than in Wealthier countries. In America the problem is often jobs, because other countries people will work cheaply there is barely work here.I only know a few in America with work now, And many cities have tent cities. America also doesn’t enjoy health care and other benefits you enjoy from your political history, nor the degree of public subsidies. Sure Moldova is poor, but that is why they have absorbed Western jobs, and since you have employment and access to computers at prices that Americans can’t access. with a stronger safety net then most Americans, you cannot fairly compare. “You Americans” is a derogatory generalization, Detroit is practically a ghost town. Don’t believe? Check the statistics of people looking for work weekly that haven’t found a job after more then 6 months. A new computer won’t be on their priority list. I do not know anyone that can afford a new computer, friends nor family, nor myself.
