Yahoo! Messenger – it starts with Y!ou

This week, Yahoo! announced plans to launch its largest global integrated marketing campaign ever. The core of the campaign is you, the user, celebrating all of your individual wants, needs, interests, and passions. And the many ways you put Yahoo! to work, for you.
Before the official launch next week, we’re releasing bits and pieces of the campaign. The video below was shown to employees on Monday and posted today on our corporate blog. It’s a nice look at some of our users and the many ways they use Yahoo! products.
You’ll see Yahoo! Messenger in a couple of instances. Bodhi is a California grad student from India who uses Yahoo! Messenger video chat to connect with her parents in India every night. Let’s hope she and her parents have upgraded to Yahoo! Messenger 10 with much improved video calling!
And Ted and Vicky used Yahoo! Messenger to court each other – much of it long distance. Enjoy,

True, that’s for the Americans. For Romanians, when you say “Yahoo!” everybody thinks of “Yahoo! Messenger”.

Why don’t you transform the Yahoo into a ‘Hi5 like’ stuff? With profiles everyone can see, and messenger capability, this is going to be a hit! Beep me when that is happening!

“Let’s hope she and her parents have upgraded to Yahoo!
Messenger 10 with much improved video calling!”
…and her parents have to download US version of Yahoo Messenger so that they can voice chat!
Why there is no option of voice calling in Yahoo Messenger’s Indian version?8-|

Hello!
@Petru I’m Romanian too and I can confess that I don’t have enought time to surf the Yahoo! Messenger, but in Romania, the Yahoo! Messenger is in the top of 3 Messengers! And Yahoo! Messenger fighted Skype and Alonia(our Romanian Messenger)!
From what I read you said that the newest version (currently beta) won’t be anymore a beta! Am I wrong?

Well for romanians Yahoo is one of the most used internet websites ever, in terms of e-mail and messengger.
~90% of romanians useY!messenger and Y!mail.
Romanians love Yahoo but all of them hope to see a change in matter of language.
Hopefully Yahoo will implement a romanian version of Yahoo soon (website, e-mail, messenger)!
Congratulations to the Yahoo team on the new campaign and good luck to you all!
With respect,

@Amy B – Yahoo! Messenger 10 is currently a Beta. Eventually it will no longer be a Beta, but don’t have a definitive timeline on that yet. If you want to use a non-Beta version of Yahoo! Messenger, go with 9.0: http://messenger.yahoo.com/win
Thanks,

Thanks Sarah. I can’t wait the day when the 10th version of Yahoo!Messenger won’t be anymore a beta. But please, put the Romanian language version, too!

I think it was the right decision to do this kind of campaign, but I wish it happened after the development teams across the board had had atleast one surprise update to announce to back this campaign. Without backed by solid product updates, this campaign might seem to much of a sales tactics to smarter consumers.
In my ‘about me’ experience from Yahoo, I would like Yahoo bookmarks to be integrated into Yahoo messenger and Yahoo mail just like contacts. People are using bookmarks on a daily basis, from home, work and on the move (cell phones). Bookmarks could also be a good way to make money for Yahoo by introducing a couple of sponsored bookmarks in user’s own bookmark list.

This is amazing. You are bragging about your new versions, yet the chat room are collapsing becasue of bots and intrusive chatters who now seem to be able to shut down rooms by flooding them with bots. Professors’ chat:1, which has been a great room for years, is now ruined. You guys are like the captain of the Titanic bragging about the ship’s great features as it sinks

Nice lil layout …I would like to at least see the option to have tabbed browsing added to the interface at least as an option…
Would like to see background options for the main ahoo messenger window as well as some better skins…but bring back the backgrounds like in the old ones and in addition to preloading with backgrounds make it customizable to put your own backgrounds in.
Last suggestion is archiving searching. You may have an address or number or information that you need to access. Why not have a search option in archiving so I don’t have to copy and paste each convo to a document file and having to do a Find Search for a specific query.
