Mac version conflicts with CamCamX software
September 16, 2009 on 5:15 pm | In Mac version | 12 Comments
We’re aware that some of our users that upgraded to the latest version of Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0 are having sign-in problems. Some of you may have been contacted to help us troubleshoot the issue. If you are one of those users, thanks. We really appreciate your help.
One problem we did find is the video software called CamCamX directly conflicts with our latest version of Yahoo! Messenger for the Mac. If this video mixing software is installed on your Mac, your Yahoo! Messenger will no longer work because of a software conflict.
To get Yahoo! Messenger working again, you’ll need to uninstall the CamCamX software.
We realize this particular fix will not solve everyone’s sign-in problems, so we’ll continue troubleshooting the issue and update you here on the blog when we have additional news or workarounds.
Thanks for your patience,
Sarah Bacon

So… that means that users of CamCamX have to give up their choice of software to get YIM to work? Please tell me you’ve got a solution to this in the works.

How much available space is needed on my mac? I am running OS 10.4.6. I installed it. When I click on it, the icon in the dock bounces a few times then stops. I need to reinstall Yahoo Messenger on this computer, due to my primary hard drive died. IS there a way you have all of my Yahoo IDs? Or was this an upgrade??
And also how do I get it reinstalled?
Thanks
Ed

I’m just so angry that Mac users still get the runaround with Messenger. You’d figure by now we’d be past this beta 3 stuff. It isn’t like there’s a decent alternative to this software-especially if I want to keep track of my friends that have PCs. You’d figure by now the folks at Yahoo would have by now stop treating Mac users like 2nd class citizens. If it’s not too much to ask, could you PLEASE get working on a version 4 of the software. Maybe it could use camcamx (just a thought).
