Changes to Yahoo! 360 plug-in
July 13, 2009 on 5:15 pm | In 9.0 version, Features | 15 Comments
With the closure of Yahoo! 360°, its plug-in for Yahoo! Messenger 8.1 and 9.0 will be changing as well. Starting tonight, the 360° plug-in will automatically update to the “Your Profile on Yahoo!” plug-in.
In addition to a new name, the revamped plug-in will include different content. You’ll notice buttons that link to the blog feature, as well as buttons to view updates and edit your profile.
If you currently use the Yahoo! 360° plug-in in Yahoo! Messenger 8.1 or 9.0, you don’t need to do anything to get this updated plug-in. The 360° plug-in will automatically change to become the “Your Profile on Yahoo!” plug-in over the next couple of days.
If you have not been using the Yahoo! 360° plug-in but would like to use this new updated version, click the “Add Plug-ins” button in your main Yahoo! Messenger window and look for “Your Profile on Yahoo!”. Then click the Start button next to it to add it back to your Messenger.

What is the most appropriate way to make a feature request? I would like search capabilities for message archives.

Duly noted. In the future, please use the ‘Send Feedback’ link in the product, which is under the Help menu in the main window. Thanks,

@Jessica,
If you do have a Yahoo! profile (http://profiles.yahoo.com), you can hide it so it cannot be seen by anyone. Go to http://profiles.yahoo.com/settings/ and click the “Hide my profile” link near the bottom of the page.

@Karylle,
Yahoo! Messenger plug-ins for 8.1 and 9.0 can be found at http://messenger.yahoo.com/plugins (images are currently missing due to gallery shutdown but we’re working on fixing that). Plug-ins are also acccessible from the picker within the 8.1 or 9.0 client – click the Plug-ins button on the main messenger window to access the menu.

This is so confusing! I was happy to have a place to blog. I had a lot of fans and now I don’t know how or where to place all the things that I blog about. I don’t get why yahoo had to change this. I hate it when something is working then you all change it! Why are you doing this?
Its like when we had a way to access albums to put our pictures up and we could allow who we wanted to view them. I liked how easy it was to load and to share! But then all of a sudden I couldn’t find my pictures. Then I got a notice that everything was already downloaded to flickr, I wasn’t happy with that either, now I can’t retrieve all the pictures I had there because I can’t afford to pay for the space I need for the pictures that I shared. I’m so upset about all the changes that keep going on

I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN CHANGES & ASKED OTHERS THAT I DO I.M. WITH IF THEY TOO HAVE NOTICED THE CHANGES. NOT MANY HAVE. BUT MY QUESTION IS WHEN DOING I.M. & I AM TYPING A MESSAGE & THE OTHER PARTY IS ALSO TYPING IT INTERFERES WITH WHAT I AM WRITING. & I HAVE TO BACKSPACE AS THE LETTERS R SHOWING UP @ THE BEGINNING OF WHAT I AM TYPING. IT CAUSES A LITTLE FRUSTRATION FOR ME. WHY IS THIS??? THE NAME OF THE PERSON TYPING IS NOW LOCATED IN A DIFFERENT SPOT IN THE BOX! IT USED TO SHOW UP @ THE VERY BOTTOM OF WHERE I WOULD BE TYPING MY MESSAGE!! SO THEN I ASK, IS THIS SITUATION CORRECTABLE?? I FEEL THAT I REFRAIN FROM USING “YAHOO’S” I.M.
THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN I USE AOL I.M.
PLEASE INFORM…..THANKS
