You mentioned that we have to append the international dialing code for international numbers. However everytime I add any number with a +, the system appends a 1 to the number and the message fails.

Example:
Number: 3555466
Country Code: 65

Mobile number contact: +653555466

The system changes this to 1653555466 when I try to send a message.

When I am using the y messenger app on the phone, it downloads my emails. Don’t I get charged for that? I have unlimited texting but I am charged for data.

@Mike Farris – Sorry, there is no online help for the Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone app, but there is online help for our desktop versions: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger10/index.html

The easiest way to add contacts is to use our Import Contacts wizard. You can find it at the link below or under the Contacts menu in the client.

Appreciate the response. Is there a PDF somewhere I can download on using Messenger (particularly on my iPhone). I’m new to all of this and having trouble doing things that should be easy, such as adding contacts.

@Mike Farris – Hi Mike, Your friends can SMS you but only in reply to one you send from Yahoo! Messenger. And in order for a friend to receive your SMS from Yahoo! Messenger, they need to be on one of the networks we support. See this page for more information: http://messenger.yahoo.com/features/sms/

I am using Yahoo Messenger on my iphone and Macbook Pro and love it. I have a question on receiving SMS messages from friends who aren’t signed up with Yahoo.

Can they send me an SMS text message? If so, how. I tried having a friend send but it gave an error saying there was no associated Yahoo ID.

@Denn – I think you’re encountering problems because we don’t support sending SMS messages to Taiwan from Yahoo! Messenger. Yahoo! Messenger supports SMS messaging for the following countries and carriers:

•United States: AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile
•Canada: Rogers, Fido
•India: Vodaphone Essar, Airtel, Spice, Escotel, Reliance
•Indonesia: XL, Indosat, Hutch 3, Telkomsel
•Malaysia: Celcom, DiGi
•Philippines: Globe, Smart
•Thailand: AIS, DTAC
•Vietnam: Mobifone, Viettel, Vinaphone, S-Fone, HT, EVN

I have yahoo messenger installed on my iphone and
learned that I can only send sms messages to rogers and fido networks, in canada. I was wondering, with the news that bell and telus will be adding a GSM network in Canada and offering the iphone, will yahoo messenger expand their services to offer sms messaging to bell and telus phones as well?…..that would be awesome!!!
