As others have mentioned, being able to be logged into your mobile device and the YIM client would be an improvement. AIM has had that for years. That said, I wasn't a fan of the older AIM client and haven't look at the newest AIM release yet. So it may still be lame on other features. I really like YIM, so don't mean to be too critical.

I have 4 plugins that I can't get published because Yahoo hasn't accepted plugin submissions for years. So I have to try to work them all into the one test plugin (that must be reloaded manually). I don't need for others to be able to use them, but the current test setup is very limited. If you aren't going to bring back 3rd party plugin support, at least make it easier to use one's own plugins. I hear the new AIM has plugin support now, so going to check it out.

I would like these features please:

Fix the issue where the chat screen doesn't fill to the right hand side when maximised.

Fix the ad-hoc emote issue in chat (i.e. prefixing your text with : makes it send as an emote, not a normal post) I have reported this over and over and not a single person respodned acknowledging a bug. Max on the helpdesk tried to help me post smileys - when I replied saying that's not what I wanted, I got no response.

Fix it so you can press the up arrow to scroll through the messages you already posted in chat - useful if somebody misses it.

Fix the /help text output, which is so out of date.

Add the Voice Chat option back to HTTP proxy chat mode, there is no reason not to include it, and HTTP proxy mode is the only way to avoid being booted at present.

Fix the ignore list management - try clicking the first, holding shift, and clicking the last, it doesn't remove the entire list, just one screen full.

Fix it so that if a mobile user actually logs onto messenger it alerts you - this is annoying when buddies

Oh yah, I voted to keep the picture/ file sharing feature. Now, (just about) the only times when I really use the messenger now is where I’m sending or recieving a file. My opinion is that is about the most important feature. I’ll give up the emocation’s, the colorful text, plug-in’s, and all that un-neccessary fancy stuff for the file sharing.

I would love to see an option where you can disable the BUZZ feature completely.

bots are starting to use them and a lot of people consider it rude to buzz someone that they don't even know. you have a lot pf people who buzz people they don't even know and it is really rude!!! be nice if we could turn that feature off!!!

One cool thing about Windows Live is you can set up and access "Skydrive". You can store 25GB of storage (such as Pictures, Videos, etc..). I think You can access Sky drive through the MSN Live Messenger.

Other than that, I think Yahoo messenger is better in most ways.
