Pingbox now available for Facebook

Pingbox, our embeddable IM application for web pages, is now available for Facebook. Now you can put a Pingbox on your Facebook profile, and visitors to your page can IM you without having to download or sign into Yahoo! Messenger.
To add a Pingbox to your page, visit the Yahoo! Messenger Pingbox application page on Facebook. The same customization tools are available in the Facebook version, so you can personalize your online and offline greeting, choose from dozens of designs, and if you wish, require your visitors to give themselves a nickname before they can IM you.
With the Pingbox app, your friends can IM you from your profile page even when you’re not on Facebook.

Hi YM Team,
The pingbox DOESNT work with Yahoo Messenger for Blackberry.
Altough my YM for Blackberry is online, the pingbox keeps showing offline status
Comment by Michael Pranolo — March 13, 2009 #
@Michael -
You need to be signed into one of our desktop versions (9.0, Mac) or Yahoo! Messenger for the Web for your Pingbox to show you as online.
Note that being signed into Messenger in Yahoo! Mail will also not show you as online in your Pingbox.

You can probably use a regular version of Pingbox on myyearbook. Just go to http://messenger.yahoo.com/pingbox to create one, get the code, and drop it into your myyearbook page.

I was wondering if there is anyway to set it so the PingBox will send to your mobile. I can get my Messenger to forward to my mobile, but when I set it to forward any IMs to my cell the PingBox shows as being offline.
Could this be an option that could be added as I would find it very helpful?
Comment by Boo — March 18, 2009 #
can u put yahoo messenger on other sites also?
Comment by patricia — March 18, 2009 #
@Patricia,
Yes, you can put a Pingbox on almost any webpage. Just go to the Pingbox studio on our site to create one and grab the code for it – then drop it into your webpage.

Because when I’m checking my emails I appear online and so I have to sign in to yahoo msgr just to appear offline while reading and answering my emails. It happens to me all the time whenever I forget to sign in first to YM. I don’t want to be doing double sign in.Pls help.

Do i have to be signed into facebook to use the pingbox? I am blocked from the website at work but can use my instant messangers. I was thinking of doing the facebook set up from home so that i can chat with my friends still.
Comment by Angela — March 20, 2009 #
@Angela,
You’ll need to be able to sign into Facebook to add the application to your page. But you don’t need to be on Facebook for the Pingbox to work, that’s the whole idea. As long as you’re signed into Messenger, your Pingbox on Facebook shows you as online (even if you’re not ON Facebook).

I cannot get the ping box to show on my facebook webiste. I have done everything I can. Followed all of the instructions. I didn’t embed code though, but I don’t get why it doesn’t show on my facebook website. I set it up on my person website without any problems, just embed code, but cannot get the facebook app to work on my facebook pages?
The only part I cannot work out is where I have to click to add to site. There is no button to click above the instructions where this is written, on the “How does it work” page of the apps set-up pages.
Anyway, if anyone can help that would be really good, because I would love to get this working.

Dear Mr.Kashyap..I didnt say you should stop making the kind of movies you want to make, simply that you should stop making yourself out to be some kind of martyr who is bearing the burdens of the world upon his shouldersYou have a right to do what you want, as does SRKit does not make his kind of cinema inferior.And thanks for your advice on Bollywood Hungama, at least those guys are not wallowing in self pity masquerading as existential angst My friend before you advise people to walk the talk try doing it yourself..and please dont delude yourself by thinking that making so called indie cinema is in any way going to alleviate the ills of this world..Your buddy Danny Boyle caused the destruction of the pristine eco-system of Koh Pi Pi in Thailand after his dumb movie The Beach was released, due to tens of thousands of ignorant tourists descending upon itlets hope you dont do anything similar in the name of Art

I leave a reply when I like reading an article on a website or if I have got a little something of value to bring to a debate. And on this post I was frankly moved enough to leave a remark
I do have a handful of questions for you if it’s allright?. Could it be simply me or do some of these comments come across as coming from brain dead folks?
And, if you are posting on additional sites, I would like to keep up with anything fresh you have to post. Could you list every one of your community pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile? Thanks!
