Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 released in Japan

Starting this week, Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 is now available in Japanese. Head over to http://messenger.yahoo.co.jp/ to find out more.

Download for another version of 9 is in progress. Month ago, I downloaded another version of 9. I will now have 3 versions of 9. Needed version 8 to communicate with friend in Pakistan but could not find it anywhere. whassup with all these versions! should I unload versions when new one is created? Very hard to get into messenger when 9 always pops up and I already have newest versions. David, friend of yahoo

When you upgrade to a newer version of Yahoo! Messenger, the old version is overwritten. There’s no need to uninstall and then install the latest (unless you prefer that method).

I’ve been trying several times to upgrade to the newest version, but have failed. I hit ‘Run’ twice and nothing happens except for the 1st time, then it said ‘Not responding’. I signed out and back in and still nothing. Help, please? Thanks! : )

I cant install yahoo messenger Japanese along with English version. In order to install Japanese version i need to remove the English version and vice versa.
Any help please

Hi Google,
That is correct. You cannot have both installed at the same time. You’ll need to uninstall the English version and then install the Japanese one.
To uninstall, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs

@Live – That’s correct. You can only have one version or the other on your machine at the same time.

so if i have Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 (uses yahoo.com), i can’t add in my friends from Japan that uses @yahoo.co.jp in my Yahoo!Messenger chat?

I used to have Yahoo Japan and USA messengers running together/isntalled on the same pc.
So, does this apply only to YJ v9.0 and above? I think I have the older YJ version…

Its really unfortunate that its not possible to have both the English and Japanese versions of YM on one’s PC together. Some of us have a large number of both English-speaking friends on Yahoo and Japanese friends on Yahoo JP and would love to be able to use both. Is there any plan at Yahoo to resolve this situation?

Anyway what i do for now is have the japanese program installed and use the web for english. I use the japanese more since i use for yahoo japan auction alerts.
