Call history: delete is back!

February 10, 2009 on 11:40 am | In 9.0 version, Features, Voice | 21 Comments

Well, either our voice users are very organized or they have super secret calls they’re afraid will be discovered. To that end, we added back in the option to delete items from your call history list in Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.

Click a call to highlight it, then click the delete button above. To select multiple calls for deletion, use ctrl + click. To delete all your call history, click to select one in the list, then press ctrl + a on your keyboard to select them all. Note that we only show the one hundred most recent calls in the window. So if you delete them all, the next time you open that window the next hundred will be there.

And we know some users were experiencing a bug where the call history window was popping up every time you signed in (even if you didn’t have missed calls). We’ve fixed this problem so just sign out of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0, quit the application, then start it again and sign in. You’ll see the call history window one more time but on future sign-ins, you’ll only see it when you have missed calls or a voicemail.

  2. How about completely deleting IM history? If I get an IM from someone I messaged with.. but had deleted the history, suddenly the “deleted” history is available to choose. Not good.

  3. Dear Sarah,

This is truly a breath of fresh air. After seeing all the things that are changing on Yahoo these days like no more personalized radio, and the sell of LaunchCast to BBC something or other, (big mistake btw) since that is what made LaunchCast Unique.

Anyways, I am glad that you guys put the button back in. Since most of my calls were spam calls or calls by mistake, and I had over 90 of them. I am one of those over organized freaks.

Love to see you guys are working on things. BTW will the chat rooms ever stop being flooded by bots? The Captcha is not working.

Why not hop in to a room so you can see how that is soooo not working.

    Tooodles

  4. I’m glad this button is finally back. I know longer have to see a history of calls I didn’t solicit.

Now how about patching the service 27 / 0×1C additional conference invite. It’s getting pretty sickening already. How can a user chat if they keep getting disconnected because of a vulnerability in the server architecture? Yahoo’s attempts to patch it have failed. Limiting the data size that can be sent does nothing. What’s the purpose of cs130.msg.ac4.yahoo.com being there if IM’s don’t work on it? If you won’t patch the 0×1C exploit at least correct the cs130.msg.ac4.yahoo.com server so users can receive IM’s on it.

Great job on fixing the delete call history. Please patch this serious exploit.

    Thanks,

  12. How do you get the call history to STOP POPPING UP when I DON’T EVEN USE THIS FEATURE in my mesenger at all???!!!!! I don’t use messenger to make any type of phone calls and still get this STUPID THING popping up all the time! It’s very ANNOYING and I would like to be able to disable/stop it from happening. It should be as easy as disabling the Yahoo Insider is on the preferences list. PLEASE consider doing this as this would make more people happy and continuee to use the program instead of becoming annoyed when all these STUPID windows pop up. It should be the user’s individual preferences and not just show up indiscriminately. Thank you

  13. Hi Team,
I received 9 voicemails at my account from my 2 contacts, after I asked them thy said that no one send me voice message from them side.
The messages are strangers, one plank message, and another one has wooooow only, and another 2 persons speaking unknown words, all messages are unable to understanding??
The first Q: is this a spam mails or virus on sender’s PC working on voicemail messages.
The second Q: how voicemail working at yahoo messenger, is that working when I send call for someone offline or didn’t answer only and recording my message when the receiver offline or didn’t answer (unreachable),
The third Q: if I sent call to someone one line and he accepted it and we established the call, but the internet connection became down from the other side and became up again (flapped), So the voice message will recorded and will sent with the attach voice for the one has online connection, or it maybe recorded the voice of the 2 persons chatting with them.
Sorry for all, but it is a critical for me to know.

    Best Regards,
    Mohamed

  15. Dear Sarah,

You have given us the option to turn off message archive but deny that opportunity in call history. I would like to see the privacy feature extended to call history as well. We should be able to turn it off.

    Thanks,
    Likiy

And “You are currently running the latest Yahoo! Messenger version 9.0.0.2162.”

I have followed instructions you provided here about the bug.
It did not resolve the problem !!!

  17. I agree with Likiy … I see no reason to have a call history, and I would like to disable it.

  20. Dear Sarah,
I signed out of Messenger a few times but the Call History window keeps popping up every time I log in. So the bug seems to have stayed in my computer.
The message I am getting with the window is “Navigation is cancelled” or something like that.

    Regards,
