My YM has been working pretty well but recently I haven't been able to use a photo as my display image. The Yahoo! avatar thing shows to other users but a photo does not, either one I upload or one I take with my webcam. Anyone else having this issue?

Also, one option I'd love to see in YM would be to have the people that are connected via SMS show up in a separate contact list. I'm more inclined to chat with people connected the regular way, but maybe that's just me. :-P

Hey Charles, the key words might be "old Mac." Are you using Mac OS X 10.4 - 10.6? You might need to find an older version if you're using an older OS.

I just installed Yahoo Messenger on an old Mac last night. I can't even get it to open after copying the file into the apps folder. I also have Messenger installed on three Windows XP platforms and one Windows Vista platform with no problems whatsoever. What gives!?

I can't sign in at all since this update. I get alternating "unknown error" and "servers may be busy" boxes.

@bebebling - I found out today that nicknames from Pingboxes have never been supported in the Mac version, only when you're receiving pings in our PC client. Right now we don't have a definitive date as to when support for this will be added to the Mac.

Sarah, thanks for your response. Yes, the option to require a nickname is checked. Like I said, when I sign into my account on a PC I can view the nicknames of people who IM me through the pingbox. It's on my mac, which I primarily use, that I only see a guest#.

Any other tips?

@bebebling - Are you requiring users to enter a nickname or is it optional? You might want to check the setting on your Pingbox to make sure a nickname is required. Go to http://messenger.yahoo.com/pingbox/studio
