9.0 update: may help with sign-in issues
January 29, 2009 on 4:40 pm | In 9.0 version | 41 Comments
If you’ve been experiencing sign-in issues with Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 (earlier post), you may want to try installing this latest version (9.0.0.2124).
While we have not fixed every issue that is causing sign-in problems, we think we’ve addressed one of them. So please try installing and signing in to this new version. Then leave us a comment to let us know how it went. Thanks,
Sarah Bacon
Product Manager
UPDATE: A newer version (9.0.0.2128) was released on Feb 5. to address these issues. More info here

I can not install Yahoo Messenger 9.0.0.2124, only Yahoo Messenger 9.0.0.1927

Still not working…same error of 81003005 still happened.
Very frustrated…….how can we solve this long overdue problem?
Comment by redza — January 29, 2009 #
Hey I have an issue that hasn’t been addressed.
Last night my contacts were all removed by some reason I don’t know of. I went on Yahoo! Answers and found out that there were a few more people that had the same issue. I CANNOT see any of my Yahoo! Messenger contacts on ANY messenger that is downloadable. The only way I can see my contacts is via Yahoo! Mail (not Classic).
Can there be a trouble ticket opened for this? It happened with the release of the new version 9.0.0.2112.
Also, I can’t import contacts with Yahoo! Messenger open via (Contacts > Import Contacts…) from my Yahoo! Mail account. It just says “We’re sorry but an error prevented us from adding your friends to your Yahoo! Messenger contact list. Please try again in a few hours.” And I’ve already tried 6 times within the past 24 hours and 3 times before that.
I already reported the issue via the built in reporter…

can you have yahoo instant messenger do the gif images like msn live does? and is there any new beta ims that i can try other than the 9.0…i have updated to 9124..dont see any difference from 2112..
Comment by razaa_6 — January 29, 2009 #
I’ve been using the latest version of 9.0s series since yahoo update the betas version. The new of 2124 is one of the worst update of 9.0s series. I have uninstall the old version when found trouble, not when sign-in but running. The IM became crash and sign-out automatically with appearing error message.
Now, I return to the old version, 2112. It more stable since 1912.
Comment by Maz eL — January 30, 2009 #
I like this version, i notice that you have removed window animation and it’s more stable. good job
Comment by Shakalu — January 30, 2009 #
Same old same old. 81003005. 2112 worked yesterday, didn’t work today. Installed this update, still didn’t work.
Left my contact info per the previous blog entry, naturally nobody called back
Must be afraid of real IT people – we might know too much LOL
Comment by Bryan — January 30, 2009 #
In the past I had had a few instances where the sign-in issue had occurred.
I would be patient & try again later.
This issue of sign-in is no BIG problem to me.
W/ the most recent update to YMessenger it still hangs @ 99%.
I need some type of application that will totally UNINSTALL YMessenger from my PC.
It won’t “disappear” through the Control Panel/Add & Remove Programs feature.
Thank you!

I down loaded and installed Y msngr version 9.0.0.2124. but when i double clcik to launch it nothing is happening. not even the login window is opening.
plz help me out to resolv it.
Comment by bhalchandra — January 30, 2009 #
The reason why people are getting, error when signing in (specially using an alias/sub) is because they become Inactive.
As what lado said, use the older version YM which fixes this.
But what needs to be done is to have that option back in the new build of YM.

can please someone tell me, or explain to me, when I receive an offline message why does this appear: “1/9″, “1/26″? I don’t get it, where does the second number stand for? Even if I receive 2 offline messages, they both are “1 of xx”.
Maybe on the official site someone will answer my question…

Well I know this post is mainly talking about log in problems, mine is having to do when logging out. At times when I go to log out of yahoo messenger it locks up for a good 15 seconds. I want to know if anyone else is having this problem? Hopefully that is another thing that yahoo! will be tightening up in a future update. It’s not a terrible problem because messenger functions smoothly up until that point. It’s when I want to log out and shutdown the computer and end up having to wait for messenger to close out, that is the problem.
Keep up the good work yahoo! If people on yahoo post positive constructive input, I know we can tackle a lot of stuff to be improved. look foward to it.
So come on people! Work together

I have a concern, this may seemed to be off-topic but I hope anybody could help me out here. I tried to add my own Yahoo! id on my contact list (I have the newest version of Y!M). After that, I was surprised seeing that all my contact lists where gone! They were all added to my Address Book. Another is, my Yahoo! id keeps on requesting to be added in my contact list every time I logged in, even though I have already denied it. Was this a kind of bug? I felt bad seeing my contact lists all gone!
Does anybody know how to resolve this? Thanks.

I installed this version on vista business version. The installation process becomes complete 100% but it remains in the state of “Updating System Configuration, Please Wait…” and nothing happens. I tested it several times and the result was the same!

Ahoora when you installed it in Vista, you must run it as Admin then you shouldnt have any problems with it.

Let’s have a current rundown of Messenger issues (excluding exploits/vulnerabilities) shall we?
-The size of the text input area in instant message windows isn’t saved/remembered as it was in v8.x and below.
-Sometimes the instant message window size isn’t saved correctly (or it resets).
-There is no way to turn off the Messenger tips (in the IM windows) in Messenger, other than using a registry key from the v8.1.0.421 build.
-Cannot perform : chat emotes in chat rooms anymore.
-Version key is still stuck as 0.0.0.0. Update about this, it’s creating the correct registry key in the wrong location. Instead of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\pager the correct key is being created in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Yahoo\pager as a ProductVersion key. I suspect either a) this is the new location of this key which should disregard the old one, or b) it’s created in the wrong place.
-Messenger locks up for no reason at times, especially with a captcha visible on screen. Could be possibly due to a bug in yui.dll.
-There’s an issue with the Black Mystic skin and when somebody’s in voice chat in the chat rooms. You cannot see the ID currently in voice because the text is black.
-Webcam servers are unstable and sometimes unusable, resulting in not connected messages, or for webcam sessions to drop completely.

I started receiving the error logging in 810003005 yesterday. I have never had any problems with Yahoo until now. I updated to the latest build and still no luck.
I waited for a while and was able to log back in, but when logging in again this morning I get the same error.
I can login to my mail etc with my Yahoo id, but just not messenger.

Hello any news from error logging 81003005 ? still can not log in to our messanger…
Comment by nyoman — February 1, 2009 #
Noticed a couple new things…
-I noticed how the voice ID was fixed in chat rooms (from not being in the middle and having the ID stick they after they key off). I’ve noticed over time this behavior reverses itself and it goes back to the middle and it sticks (verified with a clean install, over time it does this).
-Pushing the minimize button in the chat window causes the taskbar item to re-create itself at the end of the taskbar items listed.

I have the same issue as anjabel. The problem appeared after I ran Windows Update and installed the .NET service pack. Any chance that’s the cause?

I’m having an issue with Yahoo 9.0. I’ve had messenger for years and never had a problem up until now. My idle doesn’t work. I tried reinstalling it to see if that will correct it..nothing. I know the idle settings very well so please don’t ask if the box is checked or not, or how long is it set for, yadda yadda.. it just doesn’t work for me. I had friends on my list saying I’m ignoring them when I wasn’t even near the PC, ugh.
Any thoughts on this?

Messenger 9.0 keeps giving me an error code (81003005) when I try to sign in. Running Windows Vista, what is the solution?
Comment by John Corden — February 2, 2009 #
A friend of mine is having the same problems. She can’t see any of my messages I sent. especially offline messages.
I had a foresight in not installing the latest yahoo messenger. tho I still have my previous yahoo messenger 9.0.2018, its glitchy but it works. its better than nothing.
Comment by B — February 2, 2009 #
ALL, YM does not like control/special characters in passwords! I had an apostrophe in mine and got the 81003005 error..but I could sign in on the web version. RESOLUTION: Sign into your Yahoo! account and change your password to NOT include any control/special characters. Some may work but I KNOW an apostrophe ( ‘ ) does NOT.

I am having recent issues where Messenger appears offline. As I double click the icon in the system tray, Messenger pops up with an all gray screen; no username/password options or sign-in button. Only to work around so far is to right click the Messenger icon and select exit. Then, I re-launch the application to resume use.

Can you add a notifier for when a friend changes their status message. Something like when you receive an IM (show ID & status message). Thanks.
