Hi, Sarah,

Sorry I missed your question earlier:

"What issues were you having on the latest version of 9.0 with your proxy settings?"

My company use a centralized complicated automatic configuation script to assign proxy server based on the website to access. However, the default proxy server that get assigned does not work with Yahoo IM. We have an alternative proxy server we can use for IM access but I can you use that for all the server I need access to from IE. Now that Yahoo IM only uses the setting from IE and doesn't allow overide, I'm stuck.

I being using an old beta (Build 922) to workaround this, but now I realize there are some annoyingissue with the build, e.g. IE script error on cut and paste from IM window. Can you bring back the old connection setup or at least let you choose whether they want to default settings from IE or set up proxy manually?

Thanks!

Ok, I have the same exact problem as everyone else, the 81003004 error. I am trying to use this from Iraq. Before the 8.1 worked great, our cams worked great. Now, nothing. I WANT THIS FIXED. I have done every tweak on my end, jumped through every hoop. It is obviously not my fault. So someone needs to get this fixed. I spent an hour on the livechat going through the same goofy steps, uninstall, reinstall, shut down, ect repeat ad infinitum.....nothing.

Come on people. FIX IT ALREADY.

I really don't like the new Yahoo 9.0

First, I don't like the fact that I can see anymore for how long has one of my contacts been "Idle". On the 8.1 version, if there was a short time, me and my friends will buzz each other as we knew we're not far from PC. Now we cannot do this anymore.

Second, if a person inserts his own "status message" , then you cannot see whether he/she is actually on Idle or on-line.

I like the old version much more. Any way I can uninstall the new Yahoo and re-install the 8.1 version ? The new version really just annoys me and I'll swith all my contacts to another messenger service soon if things don't change. It became to be more trouble than fun.

The same problem as Mecca ::

I need to override the IE proxy setting.

My company use one proxy server to access the internet, and has all ports shutdown, except HTTP port.

I want to user another proxy ( that is also in our company ), that has YM port open.

I mention that I can not use this second proxy server as IE proxy.

Right.

So explain why when trying to run the download of version 9 from the Yahoo website, it fails with a message telling us that the firewall has interfered with the download - despite having nor firewall engaged. NONE are running at all!

And this doesn't happen once or twice - but FAR too many times - and not only to myself - but to friends as well.

This sounds like the all too common "server error" message one receives when tying to update contact info - just another internal Yahoo FU that is pushed onto customers that has nothing to do with our system configuration.

I've had the same proxy problems with version 9 as reported here.
However, I've managed to identify the problem as being related to NTLM authentication.

I'm friendly with my Windows sysadmins, and we've had to set up an NTLM proxy for our linux/unix servers so that they can get automatic system updates without requiring authentication - ie the NTLM proxy has it's own credentials it uses to get through the real proxy, but doesn't request credentials of anything connecting to it.

If I setup my Internet Connection (for IE) to use this NTLM proxy, yahoo 9 connects successfully.
If I set it to use the normal proxy that requests authentication, connection fails.

Hope this helps.

I use Pidgin (on Linux) to access Yahoo IM. Needless to say, as of today, it no longer works. Is this something Yahoo plans to work out with the Pidgin developers, or is this going to be like the AOL fiasco of a few years back, where it was a constant struggle to use their service via Gaim? I'd hate to be forced to stop using Yahoo IM because of this.

Hi. I can't seem to install the new Yahoo Messenger 9.0. It says that there's something wrong with the files, and that I should check my firewall settings. I've tried installing it with my firewall then without the firewall. I got the same error both times.

Please help.
