Have questions about the new Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 that we released recently? Join us for a live, moderated Workshop on Monday, October 6th at 3pm Pacific time (time zone converter).
At the workshop you’ll be able to submit questions directly to Yahoo! staff members about our latest 9.0 version. We’ll answer as many questions as we can during the workshop, and we’ll post the transcript from the Workshop here on the blog afterwards.

With the improvements to Yahoo messenger however, I’ve been brought back..and I can’t wait to see what additional improvements you’ve introduced (guess I’m going to have to upgrade

youre messenger 9.0 sucks i have downloaded it many time but the system just stop working….id rather like the beta….since i cannot download it im using the Ym8.1 version….when are you going to improve the quality of YM for vista…i thiought it was the upgraded and the most recent program how come some of the important features are missing and lacking…….

i just installed yahoo messenger 9.0 final on 9-25-2008.
the yahoo music plugin “launchCast radio plugin” will not work.
yahoo 8.1 final ,,did not have this problem .

i have windows xp home sp3.
yahoo gave me all these these things to try,,they told me to un-install and then re-install both in safe mode with networking and if that did not work to do it in normal safe mode and if that did not work,, re-install jave and my flash players and if that dont work ,,,to un-install and then re-install in normal mode ,,,each time i clean up my registry,,,,and the “now” stupid launch cast music plugin still only works half way,,it wont let me choose a station,, i even did all this with both my firewall and antivirus off,,,,and yes my PC is still clean after doing all that,,,,this sucks major,,its at their end,,,, please fix this in your next final up-grade

why did u change back the emoticons? on the beta version they were bigger, sweeter but on the final version they look like they used to… I loke the beta version emoticons

It’s still probably your firewall. In 2006 I had the same issues with LaunchCAST. Even though your firewall is off it still runs without your knowledge at a basic level.
One thing I’ve found when LaunchCAST doesn’t let you rate songs, artists and albums. For example clicking it and trying to rate the song and it forever says “saving”. Close Yahoo! Messenger completely. Go to your program files. Locate the Yahoo! program folder. Double click it then double click the folder named “Messenger” look for the folder named “Cache” and delete it. Open Yahoo! Messenger close it and re-open it. Next click “+Add Plugins” click start next to the LaunchCAST plugin. The plugin should reappear.
There is no problem with the LaunchCAST plugin like you’re describing. So the problem lies within your PC which is most likely your Security software causing it.
Also try a local version of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.0.1912 if you haven’t already.

If you can manage to find a copy of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.0.1389 and install it. Save the folder named “Smileys” to your desktop. Uninstall Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.0.1389 and install Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.0.1912 and locate the Yahoo! Messenger program folder then double click it. Double click the folder named “Messenger” double click the folder named “Media” and delete the folder named “Smileys” inside of the “Media” folder and drag the one from your desktop into the “Media” folder.
I like the bigger smileys better to.

When minimizing a Yahoo Messenger 9 windows on XP the transition effects become active for all windows in the system. This is very annoying..

My ym stopped working and it was built into my vista laptop, i unstalled and download the vista version and the 9 version but neither “can download the parts needed, check you firewall etc..” i turned off the antivirus. i modified my windows firewall to accomodate the ym.exe and still it won’t install!

I had the YM8.1, I was using it behind my company firewall ad it worked very good; few days ago I got the ’system message’ saying that I must upgrade to YM9 and my 8.1 stopped works (my messages was sent but I didn’t received the incoming messages!?). I did install the YM9 but is worst than 8.1 in almost all features: 100Mb instead of 22Mb, the skins are horrible, the computer works slower, freezing the mess windows for seconds…(I’m using WinXP prof, sp2 on an AMD Athlon 1800/1Gb DDRam system which was working excellent with YM8.1). What to do to can use the YM at least in the same conditions like the old YM8.1. Thanks.
