Hi Sarah, I will make you a deal. I’ll vote for YM as soon as you guys fix all the bugs and server problems, and exploits. I havent been able to photo share or send files for months now.

Stop teasing us with special avatars or smileys or other stupid little functions that no one really cares about and get the basics fixed first.

You are loosing ground to other IM\chat rooms hosts like PalTalk. They have no bugs, no bots, and no booters. Take a look for yourself and compare.

Hi.
Why can’t Yahoo Messeneger for Mac have the same features as Yahoo messeneger for PC? An update would be nice. To make Yahoo Messenger an absolute winner you should make it possible to transfer files and make web camming with MSN Messenger.

while for sure the new messenger you’ve done for mac is appreciable, the missing features from pc version like:

- photo sharing
- file transfers not working/stalling
- group instant messages

are for sure a big downside. I don’t think, at least, group IMs and photo sharing should require a huge effort to be ported…

voting…hmm… i’ll think at it as an incouragement

Best Messenger is my all time favorite Yahoo Messenger 9.0. I have never got so much enjoyment as I have with this model.From telephone service to IM it’s simply the best (may I say that?). Best wishes, Henryk

I really can’t vote for it in good faith either. Alot of the features in Version 8 do not work for me. I can’t click on links that someone sends me, I can’t view profiles in or outside of chat, and chat, UGH! It takes so much time to use capcha and there are STILL bots in there!! I can’t vote, sorry!

Frankly speaking – we don’t NEED a vote for this ! Yahoo messenger is by far the best instant messenger created. Those who complain about the bugs and bots need to notice that Yahoo Inc is at least working hard and trying to provide us those features. Which other messenger offers chat rooms with a wide reach and huge set of features like Yahoo ? MSN DID… and then shut it down because of several legal issues and what-not. Yahoo’s chat room captchas which bug you so much is an innovative way of letting you use that service with the best experience possible.

fix the ignore list on yahoo messenger, i can’t add or remove people from it. We should also get to see who has us on their regular list and ignore list too. Whens messenger 9.0 beta going to stop being a beta? We get booted alot in chatrooms!

Sadly I won’t be voting for YIM 9. It has so many problems I just had to go back to using 8.1. One of the killer features which you guys stripped out of 8.1/9.0 is the ability for the client to sign back in after the internet connection disconnects. The client goes back to a state where you have to either manually click on the “sign in” button or it goes back to the point where you have to input your name and password and the values are filled in – but again, you have to manually click the button to sign back in otherwise it is in a constant “sign out” state. Why did you remove such an important feature?

Everybody’s wireless router disconnects from time to time and my Windows Live Messenger has no problem signing back in when this happens. It even has the countdown till it will next try to sign back in. Why does YIM never sign back in when the internet connection drops? It used to do this, but it doesn’t. I keep my clients (WLM/YIM) online 24/7 just so ppl who live in other times zones can message me when I am not around. So i go to sleep and in the morning usually there are a few msgs blinking – but none of them are from my YIM contacts, only my WLM ones – why? because during the night at some point my router disconnected and re-connected and WLM signed back in, but YIM didnt – so on YIM I was signed out.

Please make YIM auto sign in everytime the internet connection drops. You had this feature in all versions prior to 8.1 so I don’t know why such a useful feature was dropped – do you not want us to chat?

hi sarah,

I’ve been using yahoo messenger for a long time i always use the voice chat in conference. to talk to my friends and family relatives around the world the things is tho, when i bought a new computer it has a WINDOWS VISTA os. so after the settings i have installed the Yahoo messenger 9. but the voice conference is not working.

i barely need it plsss. do something about it

OK, although I will sound like just another whiner….
Yes, Yahoo messenger has many excellent features that make it a good product. But, I can’t vote for it. Not any more.

Those of us who have been using it since its inception oh so many years ago recognize that it is one of the few on line services that has gotten orders of magnitude less functional over time. It isn’t that the features are bad. They are clever and often fun to use. But the main function of any chat program is to let people meet and interact with each other. In the old days that was easy. The rooms were populated with large numbers of real people engaged in multiple conversations all at once. It was hard to follow the discussion you were involved with sometimes.

Now the rooms are infested with parasites that suck the life out of them. One is lucky to find a room where anyone is chatting in the rooms at all. The bots have won. They have taken over. One must actively look for someone to chat with rather then being able to simply join in an ongoing discussion and, in the process, meet new friends.

So will I vote for Yahoo messenger as the best chat program out there? Sorry, but I can’t. Maybe in the past. But not now. And that is a sad commentary on yahoos attitude towards its users. Google is kicking your butt. Microsoft wants to buy you out. Your company is in serious trouble and you folks have noone to blame but yourselves. You have ignored the very people who made the company an icon in the internet industry. It is your users, NOT your advertisers who make your comapmay viable. You have ignored them and the current state of chat, and especially your lack of response to the obvious and overwhelming criticism, simply confirms this. So… no vote from me. Not any more.

There is no way I could vote for Yahoo! Messenger. It is way to broken down yet. Some chatrooms, which are a part of Messenger, are not enterable, again only to name a few things not fixed. You get what you pay for. You pay nothing, you get nothing.

I will not be voting for an alpha release of any software. Why do I call it an alpha release? A beta release implies that the software is feature-complete, which Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 is not. Yahoo! is still adding features to the new client, and I don’t see a release in sight. They already have 922 visible builds! Compare this to version 8.1’s 421 visible builds…

Hei…I would love to vote but yahoo mess. v9 has some bugs..and mcafee antivirus seems to create problem with this version, yahoo mess. v9 shows wrong username & password but version 8 takes the same username&password.

Yahoo messenger is the first messenger that i used. There has been considerable improvements in YM. However there are some things that i would like in future versions.

1 Reduce memory conception, atleast when no chat windows are open.
2. Get rid of the ads
3.Dont install other items along with messenger.

Well I think that you guys should fix your COMPUTERS first and then blame the bugs.

I’m using Yahoo for 5 years now and really, didn`t see to have so many errors as you all claim to have, so get updated with others and verify your system errors and any virus infections.

Yahoo, keep it up and eh, some new features would really be appreciated.

I enjoy YIM very much. The only thing I am not crazy about is when I am signed in to chat and I open mail IM disconnects. I have to reopen My IM everytime I read my mail. Also I have noticed that in my profile when I want to appear invisable my option shows I am visable even if I choose the option to be invisable.

Some people are using YM because most of their friends do. Yes it’s advanced but this “vote for us as being the best” actually opened my eyes to the other alternatives.
I’ve already choose to install something that looks better and more customizable and doesn’t eat tons of resources from the other nominees.
Sorry yahoo, but thanks for pointing me to the alternatives.

In the end I’ll find myself choosing the software that crashes less.

As far yahoo is concerned it is good messenger but there is some problems in this messenger it drops the link with network very fast while using voice chat if your computer drops its link just for a second than yahoo voice chatting is finished it is not fair but if you compare it with other messengers they are better because they are taking the links tight even the link drops for a second no problem keep the ball rolling nothing happens they are connecting it with the connection rapidly so it is better to aware yahoo moderators in order to pay their full attention to this problem the other problem is that they are not able to capture the spammers why? we are waiting for reply of almost all these problems from Yahoo! we wish they reply us through their new messenger .

Otherwise i enjoy yahoo for its best service such as checking e-mails, web cam sharing, chatting facility etc.

i have been useing yahoo messanger for a few years now at first it was cool and all but the lateest version of it has been haveing so many problems with it freezing up when i use my web cam or sometimes it wont let me into the chat rooms due 2 the signing into the chat to make sure ur account is good ..i know that yahoo was trying 2 work on keeping the bots out of the chat rooms but some how they managed 2 get right back in agian i already have my ignore list is full from bots and is all i can do is report them as spam there …the most problem i have with the yahoo chatrooms is the dam bots the other problems is minor compared 2 the bots>( comuter programs to bring u to there porn sites.). rightnow i dont see any way of keeping these bots out of here…hope the bot situation gets better

Ok, Truthfully, I was going to go in and vote for Yahoo!. I have been using this messenger since 1997. I like the program, and even though I do admit that there are bugs, I can work around them. However, here is my issue. The About.com awards closed voting today, and I only just found out about the voting this morning when I logged into YIM. I log on everyday because I use it for work and personal… I haven’t seen this message until now? Well, you lost my vote, only because you didn’t communicate it earlier.

Yahoo is the most comprehencable messenger to use. I have been with Yahoo for many years. I heard rumor that Yahoo is being forced to merge with Microsoft, and I am hoping that this merge will not interfere with Yahoo’s systems programming. Yahoo has their own way of doing things, and Yahoo is not like any other messenger nor email provider. Yahoo has allowed me to kill off old accounts, and create new accounts. Yahoo acknowledges the new accounts that I create with them, whereas other messenger providers refuse to allow me to kill off old accounts and create new accounts, and refuses to acknowledge my new accounts. Yahoo is the most reliable Messenger. Yahoo has always been, stillis, and hopefully if they are allowed to keep their unique system programming, will always be, THE BEST. The only time that there are any problems with Yahoo is when they are upgrading to offer more options to their loyal consumers. It’s a pain in the butt when they do this, but it’s also understandable, and is well worth the wait. I like all of the alert options, and they give their consumers control of the options. The only thing that needs work currently, is the really bad echoing and feedback during PC to PC calling. Thankyou for giving all of us the chance to vote on all of this. I have been a fan of Yahoo! for the past 6 years, It seems to get better every couple of months, MSN is retarded, Myspace’s IM is even worse, AIM should be spelled AIDS…and Skype will be giving blowjob lessons next month it sucks so damn much….I hope this is not too offensive for anyone to read and not get all upset.

1. You removed the user rooms, gee thanks

Yahoo Messenger is great been using it for the last 7 years. BUT

you need to fix the ignore list it get full too fast from all the bots you allow.

Your chat rooms need alot of work first u have this annoying thing everytime u enter a room that u have to type in a code which doesnt seem to do anything. Every room you go in is loaded with bots advertisizeing their cams. Is there a way they could have their own set of rooms and they would be booted if they were in the other areas? Because of them u cant find anyone to really chat with. If you cant then make the ignore list infinate. Also why did you delete the private rooms feature. That was probably the best part of your chat room. Now there’s nothing but public and bots have taken over all of them.

i’m not sure why some people have problems with messenger on pc’s. I get all the things that they say they don’t.(file exchange,photo sharing ect.)yahoo has done a great job. especially with adding messenger without a download from any pc anywhere

I like YM but there could be some upgrades that would be very helpful like using the photo share option with during conference with more than one person.

I like yahoo IM but I noticed it slowed my computer down. It is bugged and it can get ot be annyoing espically when it slows my computer down and then logs me out. I think AIM was better even thought it wasn’t as much fun!

Yahoo is by far the BEST instant messenger. All of you people that complain about bots and booters need a life. The reason there are so many bots is because everyone uses Yahoo. Do you want to know why everyone uses Yahoo? They use it because it is the best. If you dislike Yahoo so much then please just stop using it. All of you who say yahoo isn’t the best and still use yahoo are hypocrites. If you really dislike Yahoo and the bots and other so called defects in the product then stop using it. Any normal person who dislikes something would stop using it. Anyone who doesn’t stop using something they dislike are, in my opinion, idiots. Yes they are a few bugs, but everything has some bugs in it. Even though yahoo has some bugs in it doesn’t make it a bad product or else you people wouldn’t waste your time in this pole. And to solve the booter problem all you have to do is tell it to ignore everyone not on your list. That is the ultimate anti-boot. There are also other programs that improve Yahoo’s quality such as Y!Tunnel. It has two versions and one of the versions is a free version. It does the exact same thing as the version you pay for the only difference is that you have less options. Yahoo does the best it can. It’s also completely free. Yahoo doesn’t charge it’s users for any of it’s services. Every single penny Yahoo gets is from advertisements. Another thing, you people complain about Yahoo for Vista, the Vista messenger is still new. Everything that’s new will have bugs. The same thing goes for Yahoo 9.0, it’s new and Yahoo specifically says “Yahoo Messenger 9.0 Beta.” If you don’t know what “Beta” means then I’ll tell you, it’s an unfinished version and has not been tested yet. There, now we’re on the same page. The other bugs that Yahoo has they are trying to fix them, if any of you ever programmed then you’d understand how difficult it is to fix something. The bigger the program and more advanced it is the more lines of code it has. Yahoo has probably thousands of lines of code where if one single character, such as a letter, is out of place then the whole thing messes up. If one character out of however many thousands, maybe millions, of characters yahoo has, that part of the program that contains the error will mess up. I am an ex-programmer and I know how difficult it is. If any of you have Myspace then you know what a Myspace code is. People have to type that stuff up on a computer and if one thing goes wrong then the whole thing screws up. Go into your Myspace and change one character out of that code and observe what happens. Yahoo’s coding is thousands of times more complex. The code is very long and the longer the code the easier it is to make a mistake. Remember, Yahoo is a free service, so not a single one of you pay. If you paid for the service then you’d have a right to complain. I think I’m done with you hypocrites for now. Oh, one last thing, Yahoo has my vote!
