Ever since I got my new laptop on Vista last April, I could not use Yahoo Messenger, never worked
‘Yahoo.Messenger.YmApp has stopped working’ was all I got. Tried different versions, but none worked.

Now I uninstall it and go back to the old 8.1 and it works fine. Hummph go figure, the program that wasnt designed for vista works, and the one designed for vista doesnt! Guess Microsoft should take em over afterall.

I love the new design look for Yahoo Messenger for Vista.

However, I too get the “Yahoo.Messenger.YmApp has stopped working” - but I am only getting that when I close Yahoo Messenger out.

Another problem I am having is that Yahoo Messenger will not store my password. I have it set to remember my password and to sign in automatically, but it never remembers my password.

Hopefully, these two issues will be fixed in an upcoming release.

I am unable to install YM for Vista in vista home premium laptop. It says install unsuccessful. I tried it many times by closing all running applications, but still no luck.
I use this install file ymsgr_vista_us_setup.exe
If you have any good way to download it please tell me.

For a company as well known as Yahoo this messenger for Vista is taking WAY WAY too long. I can see Yahoo invested big in this one!! Obviously showing signs of corporate maturity Yahoo doesn’t get it. Something the best IM and getting to that market faster DOES matter. Having 3 guys take 3 years to write this from scratch is pathetic.
A full featured version should be around by now. This is not some myspace wannabe basement start up - THIS IS YAHOO!! but the way the Vista IM is being slowly released over the course of YEARS and has no features shows exactly how vulnerable a mature company is to innovators. Unfortunatly this is a sign that Yahoo probably should just sell-out to MSFT and become part of that bloated maturing dinosaur.

Can we make YM to use another thread than the main one while logging in? Ever since i knew YM, when you log in, the window is hanging.We all got it on startup and it makes out system startup real slow.

Also why cant we have the emoticons look like the web messenger or closer to the old ones.They dont have the same great expressions they used to.Also why dow e need them to pop out big right when they were typed? Can’t you see they just look too big.
