New Mac version: Beta 2
September 6, 2007 on 10:46 am | In Mac version |
It’s heeeeeeeere!
We know our Mac users have been waiting patiently for a new version of Yahoo! Messenger for Mac. The wait is finally over. Please give a warm welcome to the new Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0 Beta 2. Download it now.
This new version includes:
Tabbed IM windows: When you have two or more conversations going on, they appear as separate tabs in a single window. Less clutter for your desktop! Plus, you can drag a tab out and make it into its own window (or drag it back in to consolidate). Tabbed conversations are a preference, so if you prefer having one window per IM conversation, you still can.
Chat rooms: Yup, the same Yahoo! chat rooms that Windows users have been using are now open to Mac users.
Message archiving: All of your IM and chat room conversations can now be archived on your computer.
Improved stability for webcam and file transfer: There were issues with these in the past version so the team did a lot of bug fixes and under-the-hood work to improve them.
More emoticons: We added in the additional emoticons that are in our other versions of Messenger, so Mac users now have them all!
Download Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0 Beta 2
Although this latest Beta doesn’t yet offer voice calling, we’re still working on it and hope to offer it soon.
Note that this new Beta 2 version only works on Mac OSX 10.4 or later. In order to get this out sooner, we had to make a choice about which version of OSX to support. And thanks to your votes here on the blog, we had a better idea of which direction to take.
We hope you enjoy this new version!

Anyone else having trouble seeing the list of chatters in a room?
Comment by Kevin — September 6, 2007 #
I’ll be sure to test out all the severe bugs and exploits beta 1 had to see what was actually bug fixed. but nice to see this finally out…considering its beta though 2 should have been out montys ago..even if it was still buggy. it was still more stable than beta 1 with 1s severe exploits…heck to boot and mess up a beta one user all you had to do was send them 2 add rewuests at once and he’s disabled forever until they used pc version to clear the requests…(first bug I’m testing on beta 2 when I get home)
Comment by mysticalos — September 6, 2007 #
The chat client differs from the Windows version in significant and severely annoying ways.
Most annoyingly, the list of chatters in a room is represented by a horizontal bar of display pictures (of which only yours shows!) rather than the infinitely more useful list of chatter’s names…. why ?!
Also, it is not clear who is using voice or webcam in the room.
All in all.. meh.

I’m so glad to see that work is still being done on this! I appreciate all your efforts. There are tons of other chat programs out there, but so far none support YIM webcam except yours, so some of us are very happy to see more work done on the program.
Thanks for finally adding message logs, and for webcam and file transfer improvements. I’m hoping we see (or hear) Voice in the next release.

Wow, I think some Mac users are very happy now.
Comment by Venom — September 6, 2007 #
Please please please add voice support to the webcam feature. The webcam is nearly useless for lots of people because of the lack of voice support.
Having a videoconference with video and typing is just plain weird and really reduces the value of Y! Messenger.
People are stuck using Skype or iChat to chat with Windows users, and Yahoo’s voice/video support on Windows is better.
Comment by Chris — September 6, 2007 #
Is there a way to login with an MSN id on the Yahoo client? The MSN client for Mac is absolutely horrible.
Comment by Alan — September 6, 2007 #
No offense but thats the lamest POS (piece of software) I’ve seen in a long time. No list of people in the room and it crashes pretty regularly.
Add in the Capcha requirement for every room which seems to work about half the time and this isn’t a BETA 2 its ALPHA 1 release.
Pull this off your website and try again.

With the new Mac beta, how do I clear the chat room history? Thx.
Comment by calvin — September 6, 2007 #
Wow, the chat room functionality is really dissapointing
!
1) Why is there only a list of blank icons at the top? If photos from profiles showed up there that might be interesting at least. There should be an option to do a view similar to the Windows client, with a text list on the side, and a tooltip popping up with profile info on hovering the mouse. The “head list” also lacks scrolling, so it’s pretty useless.
2) I turned on my cam in the room, and it turns out I sent an invite to everyone there. Yikes. Not what I expected, or what I want.
3) Add more toolbar buttons. A “view profile” button would be great.
4) Incorporate the Captcha into the room. I know you can display images in there. Could it be that hard?
Thanks

Just letting you guys know, sometimes the rooms work, sometimes they don’t. Also, I’m not really feeling the whole icons on the top of the chat window instead of just showing a list of names in a room.
As far as one on one chat goes, it works fine. The only thing missing is voice, which I know you’re working on (and I understand that’s one of the tougher things to get into an app).
In any case, I hope the bugs can get worked out soon. I know you guys are short staffed on the Mac end, so I’ll keep my patience. But, thank you again for at least giving us this.

already found a nasty crash bug in app, SEVERAL bugs that were not fixed which i had reported to them on several occasions via email and live PM with messenger staff. grrr.
chat UI is good except for userlist being at top and it’s a nasty bug that you can’t even scroll that list at top, you have to reize window to use to see more of the names in room…and you still can’t see all 50 in a large room cause you’d need mirroed dual 30 inch displays
time to begin hacking some nibs and see if i can fix this bug, for yahoo messenger bugfix 3.0 heh

Yahoo! Voice may never come to Macs. Ted Wallingford commented on Download Squad:
http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/09/07/yahoo-releases-messenger-for-mac-3-0/#comments
“The voice feature will never come to the Mac version because the Truespeech codec used is licensed to Microsoft (not Yahoo) exclusively and the last reference version of the codec for the Mac was on Mac OS 8.6. Interestingly, Gizmo Project has enabled Mac-to-Windows Yahoo voice talks using a system of proxies, but it’s still a crappy-at-best solution.”

that is ONLY relevant to voice in chat rooms. Which they never promised in first place. However the yahoo CALL feature uses a different codec with difference licensing arrangements that they can do.
Comment by Adam — September 8, 2007 #
to add my 2 cents,
Names in chatrooms is crucial.
Quick (contextual menu?) access to profiles would be good.
Ability to clear chatroom history would be nice.

and thank you.
Comment by Sol — September 8, 2007 #
Alright YAHOO developers…please take this comment very seriously.
First of all, thank you very much for your continuous hard work to improve mac version of the messenger.
Second and MOST IMPORTANT thing, please add the VOICE CHAT and PHOTO SHARING feature on the next release. Please!
Not having Voice chat and Photo sharing on Yahoo for Macs..is the most annoying thing for a lot of people (have done lot of research about this for sure).
Please consider this request. Assume I am saying this on behalf of millions of Yahoo lovers, but they hate the Mac version because of its inability to keep par with windows version. Thank you.

oh and fix all the fatal crash bugs, some of which i reported over a year ago. I already found several fatal exploits in client…also probably not a good idea to enable javascript, java, and browser plugins in all webkit fields used by chat and PM, that’s just asking for an attacker to compromise a user.
Comment by Adam — September 9, 2007 #
Yahoo! Messenger Version 3.0 beta 2 (build 65474) Issues Report, draft 1:
Fatal Bugs:
1. Crash when joining a second chat room with a different sub profile than first chatroom while first chat room is still open.
2. Hang when loading an extremely long chat from message archive, app never recovers because for some reason once it finally finishes loading it, then it asks it to refresh, and starts to reload the thing all over again, endlessly.
3. Unable to scroll the list of chatters in chatrooms. no horizontal scroll bar. so only able to view chatters that fit in current window size. Also usernames should always be visible not just a mouse-over.
4. Ignore those not on buddy-list ignores all users in chat since chat follows same privacy behavior of PMs (after all, it’s just a chatroom thrown into a PM window)
5. Cannot invite just one person in room to cam, clicking webcam icon invites ENTIRE room to cam. this is a critical critical bug.
6. Webcam connections are less reliable than b1, the bug fixes to reliability made things worse. Constant dropping of cams both viewing and transmitting, it will appear as it’s still on but will have dropped connection to server and dropped other part from viewing or you from receiving images…it actually shows up as “user stopped broadcasting”
7. Unable to view a users can without adding them to buddy-list or if they send an invite. But there is no possible way to request a webcam unless user is on buddy-list. This is a critical bug with chatroom support present.
Other Bugs
1. Time stamps in chat room don’t show properly unless disabled and then re-enabled.
2, App may show wrong avatar on sign-in screen.
3. PM windows and chat windows observe bad horizontal scroll bar behavior from very long hyperlinks. hyperlink doesn’t get properly text wrapped to margins of the conversation window and causes horizontal scroll bars to appear.
4. File transfer dialog (embedded in PM) does not clear after file transfer has finished until after a LONG delay.
5 People invited to cam show up on the viewers list but what if more than one person is invited, how to tell which ones are viewing and what ones are not if they are all on list and cam window only says “2 users invited” also when someone is invited it no longer shows number of viewers. UI needs some tweaking on these issues.
6. Buddy-list does not honor address-book entries for MSN Live usernames that are in address-book on yahoo like PC counterpart does.
7. Mac Messenger still erases address book entry for a user added to buddy-list whom an entry already exists for on address-book server. Entry should be updated not overwritten.
8. During heavy internet lag (ISP was having issues, major latency) Yahoo Messenger would take a LOT longer to launch, several bounces on both macs (intel and ppc). Unusual being the lag should affect connecting not app launch(unless app automatically checks for updates during launch?). On same note, app has unpleasant beach-ball when choosing to connect during same lag. App should remain responsive in case you want to cancel or something. Rather than having to force it closed.
9. Text may not wrap when typing a message that exceeds first type line. When this happens you will no longer be able to see your text you are typing.
Most requested features:
1. Cam window detached as an option. Buddy-list integration should not be forced.
2. Webcam viewer window statistics, the Sub bar that 2.5.3 had, time of last image received etc.
3. Color fades/effects on OUR typing not just buddies.
4. Ability to disable nicknames/Actual Names in Chatrooms (separate from PMs)
Comment by Adam — September 9, 2007 #
Add
Non critical bug:
10. Message archive saves folders for all users encountered in chat, including bots and non friends while you are in room. At time of chat logger empty folders are purged however, but they shouldn’t be created in first place if users didn’t actually PM. (again, client unable to differentiate PM behavior from Chatroom behavior since Chat is using same conversationview.nib. Also very after clearing spam PMs from bots, the bot folder cannot be deleted from message archive it has to be manually purged from application support\yahoo\message archive directory.
Comment by Adam — September 9, 2007 #
Add Critical Issue:
8. Chat becomes laggy and spikes cpu usage and beach-balls some once history gets very long. It should auto purge old chat data like PC counter part does to avoid same problem. Messenger will be slowed to a crawl after a few hours in chat.
Add Non critical issues:
11. Chatroom always displays original roomname you first joined. It will not reflect new room names when you change to different rooms.
12. /join, /think, etc commands not supported in chat but essential for basic function of chat without having to dig through
Comment by Adam — September 9, 2007 #
I don’t know what it is with Yahoo but every time produce a MAC version of their software it always sucks! Sure it finally got chat rooms but no listing of the participate in the room and no way to check profiles once in the rooms. All you get it the chats.
It is like being in a room with people and you are facing the wall and can see anybody to chat with. Way to go yahoo. It is not hard to make a better program that is usually develop for the MAC platform. Do better!
Tim
Comment by Timothy — September 9, 2007 #
I’ve been working on a way to hack the chat participants, I haven’t been able to get names to display yet but i was able to alter the css style sheets so they show ALL chat participants and not just a small amount that fit in top bar. i revised it so it can scroll by rolls and you can see everyone now. This and a couple other things i’m tweaking and then i’ll probably make a bugfix 3.0 patch just like i have in past for 3.0b1 and 2.5.3

Lots of lahdedah but mac users are still treated like second-class citizens when it comes to some programs.
The new Messenger for Mac is fine looking but it does not work in one of the major attractions of the program: the chat. I have yahoo messenger installed on my PC and my mac so I know the difference. Aside from the rather annoying, but understandable, new feature of identity check before entering a chat room, on the mac the list of “chatters” does not come up so there is no way (I can see) to know who is there and who is not. A little line of profile cutouts comes up on the top of the chat screen but there is no way to identify them and clicking on them has no effect whatsoever.
To Yahoo: nice try, guys, but get off your asses and back to the design board! The Internet is more than Microsoft!
Comment by Richard — September 11, 2007 #
It’s nice that the same chat rooms are offered on Mac, but what about new rooms. In Adult Romance, many interests are represented, but transgender has been left out. Or do you think it should be under Fetish? I don’t. Please add Transgender as a separate chat room.

Constant dropping of cams both viewing and transmitting, it will appear as it’s still on but will have dropped connection to server and dropped other part from viewing or you from receiving images…it actually shows up as “user stopped broadcasting”. UPDATE: This behavior has been coming and going which is now leading me to believe it could be a server related issue.
7. Unable to view a users cam without adding them to buddy-list or if they send an invite. But there is no possible way to request a webcam unless user is on buddy-list. This is a critical bug with chatroom support present. Most simple option would be to add a “View Webcam…” menu command to contacts menu like 2.5.3 has.
8. Chat becomes laggy and spikes cpu usage and beach-balls some once history gets very long. It should auto purge old chat data like PC counter part does to avoid same problem. Messenger will be slowed to a crawl after a few hours in chat.
9. Overall the excessive use of CSS style sheets and script within webkit windows in every aspect of yahoo messenger makes it much slower each release getting slower and slower. On a 733mhz G4 test system it runs so slow i can actually watch it drawing the toolbar buttons and lagging just to make text appear on screen. Definitely a serious problem. It’s a chat app, photoshop lags less (literally, i fired photoshop up and played a little, photoshop had a better overall snappiness to UI. Well until a large graphic was opened lol)
10. Application crash from webcam if internet connection is shaggy or under serious lag. Would attach the crash but it seems app deleted it after it was forwarded by beta 2’s internal reporting mechanism.
Other Bugs
11. Chatroom always displays original roomname you first joined. It will not reflect new room names when you change to different rooms.
12. /join, /think, etc commands not supported in chat but essential for basic function of chat without having to dig through
13. Message archive does not show correct times on logs. The logs themselves are correct but the message archive window itself shows wrong times.
14. Unable to view own webcam. Permission is always auto denied. Probably unusual for me to list this. But for some dial up users I know super-mode screws them up so I view my own cam to give it 2 viewers on purpose.
15. Message archive should save chats as chatroom name instead of file naming the chat log every singe chatroom participant in room that can fit in an OS X file name.
16. Message archive should select NONE by default when window is opened. This will prevent it from wasting cpu and time loading up a chat that it decided to select on it’s own. Especially bad when it’s a chat room log that’s very long. Which triggers the hang bug from critical issues section.
5. Option to exclude chat rooms from tabs. Opening a room and having it added to a tiny PM window as a tab is annoying. Always have to drag it out then resize it. Then hope new PMs don’t get added to the chat tab bar instead of the open PM window tab bar. Should allow separation of chat from tab controls all together.
6. More control on webcam for super-mode. On mac it can’t be disabled or behavior controlled like windows version.
7. Options to log chatrooms separate from PM windows. I only want to archive my PMs. Not every chat room I visit.
8. Join Chatroom menu saves recent rooms and profile used in them. But it doesn’t save actual room number. Room number would be nice for those that like to frequent same rooms.
9. Send message to group. Ability to send a message to an entire buddy group. The options to stealth an entire group and invite entire group to conf were both added in beta 2 which is nice. Just missing that last feature.
*10. Ability to clear old profiles from signin screen history without having to go into ~/library/Preferences/com.yahoo.messenger3.plist and editing the values out.
11. Ability to view a profile of someone that’s not on list. Where you type in users name. Also good to put in contacts menu with Same with “View Webcam…”
**12. Contextual menu’s for chatroom participants with commands like “ignore, view webcam, view profile, etc”

Thank you all so much for finally making this! I’m really excited about the chatrooms. =]
Comment by Natalie — September 14, 2007 #
To Scott who said:
“Wow! What a huge disappointment after all this time! Still NO VOICE! Another big thing windows users have is the ability to broadcast a message to everyone in a group. Us Mac users need that to! I’d rather have that than tabs!”
You must die and never say such stupid things again! It’s the worst feature ever. Mass messaging is the most annoying feature and I hate it. It is useful sometimes, but usually it’s used abusively. (Kidding on the dying part)
To Christieamberlee who said:
“It’s nice that the same chat rooms are offered on Mac, but what about new rooms. In Adult Romance, many interests are represented, but transgender has been left out. Or do you think it should be under Fetish? I don’t. Please add Transgender as a separate chat room.”
wtf.
And my 2 cents:
Add photo sharing and makes us happy this Christmas with a beta 3. (dam it. it’s to much to wait 1 year for such a small update)
Comment by Lucky — September 16, 2007 #
Hey guys what’s with the new feature you’re not talking about? Go to Preferences and you’ll see something great under Messaging.
Conversation Styles? Wow that’s great, but there are only two. It would be great to be able to have more and also install user created ones. That would be the best.
I can’t find an option to disable avatars. It would be nice to be able to disable avatars in a chat window from there. Sometimes, it takes to much space. 100 pixels is a lot of space!

No voice? Useless
Comment by Bazzoola@yahoo.com — September 16, 2007 #
Still no voice, but at least you’re now workin’ on it. It still doesn’t work with my cell phone, what’s up with the retardedly outdated cell phone list? Cingular doesn’t exist anymore and the phones are like 2-3 years old on it. Still can’t get it to recognize my phone exists so I can turn on the “sign in to mobile device”. It still has problems with updating the information in it, although the buddy list is getting updated a tad more now. At least they finally caught up the emotes though. Haven’t had a chance yet to try out the blocking yet, but I hope you all finally got that fixed.

@Adam
Seems to me you need to do some serious maintenance on your system, as a lot of the problems you’re encountering, I don’t see on my end. Granted I don’t bother with the chat rooms, and that may well be where you’re getting your problems from.
Comment by DisabledTrucker — September 16, 2007 #
@those complaining about Vista and Leopard…. Waaaaa! Who cares, Vista is crap and Leopard hasn’t been released yet! It’s about time they quit trying to support outdated software as well, which also could well be your problem Adam, go out and upgrade to Tiger and then complain about your problems with it. On my 10.4.10(Intel) copy of Tiger, I don’t see many problems except those I’ve already mentioned. Then again I stay out of the rooms too, where all the bots and other pests reside.
Comment by DisabledTrucker — September 16, 2007 #

SHUT UP!!! WINDOWS IS MORE POPULAR THAN YOUR MAC-NOODLES
as for the yahoo “team”
when is yahoo for vista coming out? i’m not sure but boycott?

Comment by Luca — September 24, 2007 #
Well, the tabbed chat is a great feature, as is the automatic logging. Very cool. No more saving chats as PDFs and no more losing them when my YM crashed before I got around to saving them. Interesting too is the fact that it hasn’t crashed in the several days I’ve been using it. We’ll see how long that lasts. I find it odd that the chat room feature was added without having the ability to see who else was there. WTF? Obviously, a lot of work needs to be done there. Hopefully, the next release will come sooner than a year from now, but any improvement (like this is) is welcome.
Comment by RenoDave — September 28, 2007 #
Oops, I guess you can see who is in the chat rooms. Bad way of doing it, but better than nothing!
Comment by RenoDave — September 28, 2007 #
I can’t see a list of people in the chatroom.
You uh…….you might want to consider adding that in the next version…
Because….you know…it makes it pretty useless otherwise.
Comment by Coyote — October 1, 2007 #
JEEZ, how do i go back to the the previous version? If I have someone message me who is not on my buddy list all I get is a blank window with no text.
OR if i switch usernames it happens to anyone who messages me.
what a huge disappointment
Comment by vfrjoey — October 20, 2007 #
MSN messenger for mac is such a huge success for yahoo in terms of the look and how it all works together. Yahoo you guys need to advertise it on the web more or TV because not too many people use Yahoo for IMing other people. AIM is still the standard for everyone.
I would love to see Yahoo merge with AOL to take on MS and others in the IM department.
Comment by Dan — October 22, 2007 #
I hope the next version will work under OS X 10.5, with better file transfer, among others. Thanks
Comment by Mihai — October 24, 2007 #
Nice!!! How about auto-hide feature coming next? Great job, one more app I no longer have to rely on my windows box to use the way I like.
Keep up the great work, say hi to Richard for me!

Not good at all. I was disappointed not being able to see a list of who is in the chat rooms like you are able to do with Windows. Very pointless of going in if you can’t see who’s in there. I just downloaded yahoo messenger for my Mac but so far it seems crappy…they need to work on it some more.

You need better abstraction so you don’t duplicate your dev cycle for each platform and run into incompatibilities.
Feature Parity is not hard, just code better abstraction. Look at Skype. Skype wins because they write once, yet deploy to all the platforms. They don’t have to reinvent the wheel for each platform. Your mac dev team should not have to code photosharing at all or any other feature. Your main dev team needs to learn to code at a higher level so your platform teams just deal with the hardware specific stuff. Much faster dev. Much better use of time. Feature parity across all platforms.
This is crazy it’s taken how many years and we still don’t have feature parity on the mac, there is no linux client. The mobile market is pretty goofy. Skype can do it with far less resources, so can you. Just abstract better.

Great that a mac version has been released, chat is fine, i can see the list of chatters in the room (i know some people can’t, don’t know why), voice would be good, my question is :
HOW DO YOU GET THE WEBCAM TO START??
My cam works with my mac, its a logitech quickCam Pro 4000, but the webcam option in yahoo messenger is greyed out.
Any ideas or help would be really appreciated. I can view cams, just can’t seem to start mine.
Thanks guys

Halloo. I can say bar far, it is the dumbest version of Yahoo messenger I ever used. But because I have no other choice, I have to stick to this one. The bigest bugs ever: sudden disconnection from the server, and complete Shut Down of the software. I sent I think hundreds of submissions every time it crashes, but still no Update.
Are they waiting for Microsoft to come and fix this BUGS ?
If you have any solution for my problem, please let me know. This starts to step on my toes.
10X.

Comment by gummo — March 18, 2008 #
gummo-
You’ll find “Message Archive” listed under the Window menu (last one on the right) in the Yahoo! Messenger for Mac application.
Sarah Bacon
Comment by Administrator — March 18, 2008 #
Is there some reason it doesn’t appear for me???
Comment by gummo — March 18, 2008 #
After researching this further, it seems as though it’s unavailable for MAC:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20070119162241AA6FgHb
I find this unfortunate after it SPECIFICALLY SAYS there’s conversation archiving when you download it.
Comment by gummo — March 18, 2008 #
Hi gummo,
That Y! Answers article is quite old. The latest version, available here
http://messenger.yahoo.com/mac.php
does have message archiving (“Message Archive” listed under the Window menu). Perhaps you don’t have the latest version installed?
Also, make sure you have archiving enabled. Go into Preferences and in the “Messaging” section, be sure the “Enable Archiving” box is checked.
Sarah Bacon
Comment by Administrator — March 18, 2008 #
Hello gummo,
Please check the version you are using.
Beta 1 does NOT have message archiving
Beta 2 does have message archiving. As Sarah mentioned, you need to enable message archiving in order to use it.
To enable message archiving,
1. Click on the Yahoo! Messenger Menu
2. Select Preferences…
3. Click on the “Messaging” icon tab at the top
4. At the bottom of the window, check off “Enable Archiving”

I love Mac but the odd thing when Im using YM, I couldn’t make a phone out or any call at all like I usually do in PC. I am very fan of Mac and I love it but the only missing is I can’t make a call in YM…. huhuhuhuhu…. Please Mac Team do something and hope it will work perfectly impressive.
Comment by Janice — March 24, 2008 #
can i set preferences in Beta 2 for my message archives so that they won’t be deleted if i sign out of messenger?
Comment by nancy — March 24, 2008 #
Huge disappointment with previous and beta version. Alpha kept crashing, not beta doesn’t show my buddy list upon login, just the wheel spinning and spinning. It will notify me of new messages but that is useless when the mail icon never appears on the buddy list, due to it never coming up with the buddy list. I’ve got Leopard on my new intel iMac. Is anyone else having this problem? At least I didn’t throw out my pc laptop yet.
Comment by Andrew — March 29, 2008 #
I just downloaded yahoo messenger on my MPB SR running leopard 10.5.2 . Every time i fire up Y!, my CPU usage goes up to 100%, all of it being used by yahoo. Is anyone else having the same issue?
Comment by Saurabh Dutta — April 5, 2008 #
Well…for the amount of time we’ve been waiting for a decent upgrade this sure is a huge disappointment. Some days I can’t even get the program to open. I have even resorted to creating separate user IDs hoping at least one might startup…which is weird because sometimes one will while the others won’t. Today none will.
Shaking my head in total bewilderment at such a dodgy product.
btw…running Leopard here.

Comment by devz — May 2, 2008 #
NO voice people. Who gives a rats ass about other features if it doesn’t have something so fundamental as audio (voice some call it). If I bought a great high def TV that was incapable of playing sound, who would think it was a good product? To all those who prattle on about how good this Mac version is, ARE YOU ALL DAFT? HELLOOO! WAKE UP PEOPLE: NO VOICE —NO VOICE!! WTF good is it without audio transmission. Oh, and screw all you Yahoo Messenger software developers for deliberately giving Mac users an inferior product while you kiss Microsoft’s ass. I know they are in on this because they don’t want consumers to have another good reason to buy a Mac.

Hi, I have the same problem with Y!M (beta 3) as one of the posters above. After a few minutes of usage the CPU goes up to 100% and stays there. I’m using Leopard now (10.5.2) but I had this problem on Tiger as well.
