I been busy and lost track of things, so what happened to FOBW? Yahoo says my s/n is not really mine, and I can't log into messenger, anyone having the same problem? I appreciate it, and John, my I have an "Amen?"

Just to followup:
Captcha was somewhat useful, but doesn't work in current state.
Perhaps something like a 3 hour captcha might work? Every few hours of login, user needs to captcha.
The ignore list needs to be more that 250 considering the number of bots.
And it's not realistic to use the setting 'ignore IM's from people not in your friends list'. We are here to meet other people and IM's are part of the process of making friends.

To the people at Yahoo, please use a Yahoo chatroom (Texas for example), with IM's from non friends enabled, switch to a new room once in a while..and see if it's usable. You will be blown away.

Its such a great platform, run amok. It's a big waste of resources and what used to be a great service. I am really sorry for Yahoo's current state.

Hi Sarah,

Came across this old blog entry. To me, it is a very easy assumption to make that no one at Yahoo uses the Yahoo chatrooms. The bots RULE - what a MESS. I am sorry to see this. It's been many years and this has not been fixed.

Because I had a good experience in Yahoo chatrooms 8 years ago, I decided to use Yahoo DSL service and other Yahoo paid services. But with the current state of affairs, I will have to say good bye to Yahoo. Thanks for your service in the past. It was invaluable (while it lasted).

To the other users. what are the alternatives to Yahoo? Lets all go to some other service.

Old Yahoo Fan.

hi sarah,
im an old user.i used to be booter and hacker.
im not proud of myself, but im telling u, u can do better than this.
i'll give an alive example, yahoo ppl say that Yahoo company is the same trouble maker itself, HOW !!?
listen.. the magic word is IP address..i mean some noisy ppl come to chat rooms in more than 40 names, which means, rooms r CLOSED !! so it must be the following : every IP address is allowed to have 2 names maximum, not more, otherwise, it must face/meet rejection from the yahoo main server. i know Yahoo cant prevent bots in rooms nor providing one employee in every chat room, it's ok, users can handle it. what bothers us is the booting thing, the only way to avoid and stop is the IP address, as u know, 2 ids r not enough to boot a user or even a goat. Also, u can add one new option to the messenger like : " protect my privacy" YES, protect users privacy by disable any coming IM or Add requests or Conference invitation.
this is all what i have now, but still one thing i would like to add, which is : DC booting is the most annoying booting program, i guess Yahoo can stop it, it just needs ur ppl to work more on it.

thank you

please feel free to contact me..bye

Well where are we now? Some chat rooms are listed but basically closed. Some chat rooms are overflowing with bots. There is a sign-in system that is hard on the eyes. This system was developed in collaboration with gee whiz kids from a totally different INSTITUTION. And still the bots are more plentiful and irritating. Room counts are off. Yahoo has obviously shown what it is capable of. It also has shown where its priorities lie. Since the good old days, Yahoo has been exposed as a dupilcitous repressor of human rights. It has been called a moral pygmy in Congressional hearings. The skin on this wunderkin is especially thick. Thre are tens of thousands of customers(personal property of Yahoo) who have no premium status because of the unholy alliance between ATT and Yahoo. ATT is not responsible for Yahoo related problems and Yahoo is not responsible for ATT internet customers or their support or issues. What a long strange road it has been.

I have the same problem. I have been trying access the chatrooms for months now and keep getting that darn "Communications Error". I am shocked to see how long this has been going on for. Funny thing is though it always shows a number of people in the rooms etc. Is this true? Are there actually people that can access the rooms? If so I haven't heard from them....
