Well gang lets recap this contest:
1. The original contest used the term "prize awarded with a $ (dollar sign). There is no prize

2. The contest rules clearly stated that entries must be original and entrants must own the rights. Round 1 was filled with pictures downloaded from the net.

3. The rules stated that no vulgarity would be allowed yet the comment pages were filled with filthy language.

4. When round 1 was over they had selected 10. The # 1 pick was something downloaded from the internet. Only 2 of the 10 were put into round 2.

5. Round # 2? Where in the contest rules did it mention anything about a round # 2?

6. Now they have narrowed the 175 in round 2 to 80. One of which is a talk to the hand entry which yahoo already has.

So what we have is:
A contest that manipulated words to indicate a prize therefore generating more entries which they now own and can use however they wish.

A contest in which the voteing was skewed in from the beggining due to all the entries that DID NOT meet eligibility requirements.

A contest that "appears" to be being manipulated by Bix for whatever reason. Note the changing advertisements at the bottom of the contest page. If advertisers are paying for every hit this page recieves(as has been common with internet advertiseing) exposing their product then perhaps there is a reason for the way this contest has been run. By creating the turmoil it has it keeps people coming back to this page just to see how ridiculous it gets thus generating another hit and revenue. I personaly will quit useing anything that has something to do with Yahoo and not help put more revenue in their pocket. Maybe Yahoo will figure it out and do better the next time. I doubt if I will enter anything they sponsor again as it is obvious it is not legit and run according to their rules.

Well - my suspicions have become a reality. This morning number of entries down to 80 - and my own personal 3 entries are now eliminated. Mine were paint file images of actual "emoticon smileys". Although one of them was similar to emoticons that were in existence (the bright idea bulb) the other two were original ideas. The BIX staff moved them all 3 to round two - and now based on whatever rules they have chosen to apply - the 3 are eliminated. Makes me wonder if my comments I have posted on the Yahoo Blog and on this site may have had anything to do with the elimination. I see that their own staff member "Poser" still has his entry included in the 80 entries that remain. Definitely one of those things that makes you go "hmmmmmmm". Oh well - chalk it up to another lesson learned - by me any how -- I'm not to sure about Yahoo and BIX. -- IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT THE NEW EMOTICONS DO LOOK LIKE -- HOW MANY WILL FAVOR ENTRIES THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT - OR REALLY NEVER HAD A CHANCE BECAUSE OF HOW THE CONTEST HAS BEEN HANDLED -- Have a great day and weekend every one.

Now we have only 80 entries from the original 175? Looks like the person who selected the 175 photos didn't know anything about this contest.Or maybe Yahoo hired a monkey to pick at random 175 photos. And now there are cleaning up the mess.
Congratulation for this contest!

You guys should set up a feedback site. where we can give feedback to you guys on how to improve ALL of the yahoo products. We just chose what product we want to give feedback to. (ie; messenger) and we go ahead.

Now the contest is more interesting and the photos are more suitable for this contest (80-90% of them). If we eliminate some pictures with cute babies(and some of them i guess there are downloaded from the internet) and a couple of drawings and ideeas for existing emoticons we have about 100 photos that will make a great emoticon.
So wish me luck ,as i was selected to participate with a photo in the second round ;)
