Sign-in problems - RESOLVED

June 27, 2007 on 9:52 am | In News |

[Issues have been resolved as of 10:45am PST. Thanks for your patience - SB]

Hi everyone,

We are troubleshooting the issues causing sign in problems right now on Messenger. Some users may be able to sign in, others may not. I recommend trying to sign in to Yahoo! Messenger for the Web - I had success with that this morning.

Thanks for your patience. I’ll update this post once the problem has been fixed.

  1. And I thought Yahoo! were doing some upgrade to their chat servers as they had promised, disappointing!

Atleast even though this is temporary we are finally seeing bot and booter free chatrooms because of the login issues and no random pr0n bot private messages. *laughs*

  2. I have a few friends who aren’t able to access messenger, but mine is fine. It was messing up last night, but I figured it was a cookie problem so I went and logged in at “login.yahoo.com” and it went right back up for me.

  6. Sarah:

No disrespect intended, but your track record on honesty about problem resolution does not exactly inspire confidence. As I recall, all was supposed to be fine by May 15. Now it is nearly July and WHOPPEEE problems are RESOLVED. Well, not really. Might work for some and not others (I happen to be in the latter group.) Even the title of your blog is misleading!

A little honesty is all we ask. OK, so it wasn’t fixed by May 15 as we were assured. Why not let us know on May 16 that there are still issues. Most folks will understand if treated like intelligent people. The wrath regularly seen in these responses is less related to service problems as to your unwillingness to simply be straight up with is. Successful organizations are honest organizations. Your track record says somethng quite different. So how about telling us about the reworked version you told us to expect in mid august, Is that still on schedule or are you just going to get us all that much more frustrated.

  8. Yeah I noticed the Web version was more stable. But I hope you can pass this on to the who made it it has a huge BUG! I am a fast typer, and every single time I try using the Web Messenger it skips letters to the point that I thought I had a defective keyboard. So I slow down and try one letter at a type and I have to press the letters like four types before they show up.

I thought this was just something with that page, but have you tryed yahoo maps, it does the same thing its impossible to type anything in there once ur looking at the map with the directions.

I have found a replacement for both until you guys fix them.

One is MapQuest. And the Other is Google Talk yup all you need is to get an id just like yahoo and it has a web interface with zero lag when u type.

And should u want the full version of google talk, don’t worry is a really tiny program that if u have dsl download and instalation is less than ten seconds, and guess what it set ur status to the song ur listening too. Regardless of the player you use. feature not found on yahoo.

Go here for details http://www.google.com/talk or http://www.gmail.com

  9. Yes we can sign in but the plug ins still down work like they should even on xp. and Web Messenger Still Lags when I type

Funny thing is Yahoo being a blog community and you are using

http://www.mybloglog.com. Yeah so the features on 360 still don’t work either huh?

    Very funny

  10. This isn’t exactly instilling confidence. If the problem is not “resolved” for all users then it is NOT resolved. Also, I thought it was a problem on my end and decided to uninstall/reinstall except now it is taking FOREVER to download.

    Comment by J — June 27, 2007 #

  11. Yeah, maybe you just ought to discontinue the chat part entirely since it doesn’t even room join as of late.

    Comment by John — June 27, 2007 #

  12. Well actually Yahoo owns MyBlogLog, so no it’s not funny it being used. No funnier than if 360 was being used.

Why should I have to post on a blog to get any answers or hopefully some help??? Post something on your freakin’ homepage if you are having server problems!!!!!!! YOU ARE HAVING SERVER PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sign-in problem has NOT been resolved.

  17. I’m just so tired of trying to get into chatrooms. I might be able to get into a chatroom once a month. If this is a chat program @ least you could do is get the problems fixed so we could log into a chat room . It takes like 10 minutes to log into the program & then it disappoints me with a problem code

  18. why can’t you people fix the chat rooms? ever since you took the user created rooms, a lot of us i hear can’t get into them! when we do it took anywhere between 10-20 minutes! that’s not how an organization is supposed to work! when you see people getting frustrated about something, fix it!

  21. Sarah,

I was just accessing Y Calender for the first time in about 3 years, I came across this…

I use Yahoo Messenger to sign in, Sometimes it does, sometimes I have to try again and normally it will sign me into Yahoo and My Beloved Y360 or Mail whichever I need to see first. I thought it was My computer…

Except for Personals and Music , I have been really Happy with Yahoo products…I rarely go to My Page anymore…

You can only do the best, Differant computers with differant operating systems provide numerous challenges only a cynic would complain about. Keep up the Good Work Sarah !!! !!!!

  24. Under yahoo Pinochle there has been a lot of stalling by players using the three Minute Timing between plays. Can something be done re these game stallers. There should be a button to push that will alert Yahoo managements to catch these people in the act and react accordingly. This would make a much better game for all. One other things that needs attention is the talkers, there should be a no talk during while the actual game is going on. Makes sence that no talking would make for a better game. Thanks for listening James E. Kennedy

  26. I SIGNED UP ON YAHOO MESSENGER UNGER THE THE USER NAME HOT1233—WHEN I’M ON IM IT SHOWS MY FULL NAME “SONJA ANGLIN” AND THEN HOT1233 AFTER. THIS IS NOT SAFE–I DO NOT WANT MY REAL NAME POSTED ON IM FOR EVERYONE TO SEE. I’VE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT OFF THERE AND I CAN NOT FIGURE OUT HOW.
    PLEASE HELP.

What appears in your Yahoo! Profile is also what appears as your Yahoo! Messenger contact details. To edit it, go to your Yahoo Profile page(http://profiles.yahoo.com/hot1233) and then edit your profile information. When you edit, you can change your first and last name.

  28. Hi
I have a problem that is being shared by many, although I haven t seen a clear answer yet. I cannot add new contacts in my Yahoo Messenger list. Whenever I open YM there is a pending request from a friend. I add the contact, nothing happens, I get the same pending request next time I open YM. The idea is that I cannot add any contacts now, nor delete any. Should I move my account elsewhere?
    Other less radical solutions?
    Thnx

    Comment by bea — September 26, 2007 #

  32. Hi Bea - To log into Yahoo! Messenger, you need to run the security update. You can either click “OK” and run the security update when you first log in, or go to http://messenger.yahoo.com and download the latest version of Messenger (8.1.0.421). Once you have the latest version installed, you’ll be able to log in. Thanks,

Hi, I encounter the following problem: while trying to add a new contact, it takes about 1 minute before a window appears leting me know that the contact has not been adde yet, asking me to check later the contacts list. This problem annoyes me for several hours yet. Is this fact caused by the server’s overload or is there any other problem?
    Thanks,

  38. This is ridiculous. I haven’t been able to log into yahoo! messenger for a month. I downloaded the security update, i uninstalled yahoo messenger, reinstalled yahoo messenger… nothing works. I’ve never ONCE had a problem like this with AOL Instant Messenger. Keep that in mind. In terms of reliability AOL is so far past Yahoo! its completely disgusting. I’ve been using AIM for almost 10 years now and never once have I had something like this happen. I’ve used Yahoo! for a couple years and there’s always a problem. Back to my problem, I can log in to Yahoo! Messenger on the internet explorer version, but not the program itself. And in the past few months, on the web-based version and the normal program, I’ve had problems with massive lag. I’ll send a message but the person I’m talkiing to doesnt get most of my messages for probably 30 seconds, and vice versa. Yet some go thru right away, so it makes conversations EXTREMELY difficult because it COMPLETELY changes the order of messages exchanged, so conversations make little to no sense. Of course, AIM works perfectly fine. Get you act together Yahoo! And any advice to help me would be much appreciated. I am behind a firewall so i run the “Firewall with no proxies” setting which has allowed me to sign on for 5 months or so, but Yahoo! has completely failed me and many other people. Any suggestions to aid in either of my problems?

    Comment by Kevin — October 29, 2007 #

  39. And let me just say that I really like Yahoo! Messenger. Which is why I try to work with it. It’s the only reason I’m bothering to post my problem here. It’s a strong messenger, but reliability is terrible. I want to make it work, but there’s only so long one can deal with in terms of such BASIC problems. Small tech problems I can stand. But signing on and sending/receiving messages!? You can’t do THAT right!? That’s like an airplane that can’t take off or land! Oh but you’re great once you’re in the air! What difference does that make if you can never leave the ground!?

  40. I’ve been trying to resolve the “log in” issue for over 2 months. I’ve given Yahoo my log files, and the say they are having their engineers look into it.

They are fully aware of the mass amount of people having this problem, and they have done NOTHING to resolve this issue.
