We’d like to know more about why and how you use emoticons. Take this brief online survey:

[Survey now closed. Thank you for your responses!]

We’ll share results here on the blog once the project is complete. Thanks!

  2. Sarah,

You should have a survey to see how many Messenger users are happy with chat rooms the way they are.

  3. Sarah,

I think there should be a link to see the hidden emoticons. When you click on the emoticons button it should have a link called more that shows you the hidden ones.

    also please don’t delete this.

    My quick survey and answers.

    1. Are you happy with the chat rooms that are available? No there should be more rooms.

    2. Does the bots bother you? Only when they send an instant messenge to me or fill up a chat room.

    3. Should Chat be upgraded? There are so many bugs in chat rooms I wonder how come Yahoo didn’t yet. Such as

When I enter chat rooms and mic/voice turns on every time. Older messengers used to remember if I don’t use min/voice, not to turn it on next time I entered chat rooms. and

The chat rooms ChatterBox, ShowBiz Central, and The Press Box under Voice Chat catagory does not let people in these rooms.
I have sent dozens of complaints to Yahoo customer care but the rooms still don’t let people in them. The rooms have been like this since Yahoo took down Java Chat.

Please post what you don’t like about chat.

  4. I love yahoo ,I have been with Yahoo 8 years. Watching yahoo grow has been amazing. There has been mistakes but those msitakes have always been corrected, and with each mistakae the comeback was always made better.
thanks and keep up the good work!

  5. Hi Chris – I don’t think we need a survey to get a read on that issue. We hear you!

  6. Since you hear me, I stoped searching for phishing on geocities.com. I will start searching for the pages when I see that you fixed the voice chat rooms ChatterBox, ShowBiz Central, and The Press Box

I did A quick look and found 5 so its up to you if you want me to report them.

I know I seem like a jerk but I am fed up with Yahoo ignoring me. At least fix those rooms, that would make me happy.

I do expect you to delete this,

  7. Interesting how the only posts that seem to avoid deletion are the “I love yahoo” posts. I have no doubt this one will get cut too, but you are not fooling anyone and even embarrassing yourselves with this censorship. I have almost convinced all my Yahoo contacts to get a Skype ID and once that is accomplished I will have nothing more to do with Yahoo.

  8. First off, great survey. I just took it and found it to quite enjoyable to take.

Secondly, I know Yahoo is aware of all the problems regarding chat rooms, and I’m pretty sure fixing those specific rooms isn’t exactly a high priority right now.

I’m also pretty sure that Yahoo has plans to fix/improve all these features, so maybe it’s best not to keep bothering them about it.

It’s like beating a dead horse, it gets old quickly.

P.S. Are there going to be anymore surveys like the emoticon one coming soon?

    Comment by Venom — May 24, 2007 #

  9. First off: One of those rooms was my favorite room.

Secondly: I found 8 pages on geocities.com and the search engines I use updates everyday with more.

  10. I love yahoo and the way I can’t join a room and never get voice when I do join because some other loving type of person feels that mass iggy and voice domination is so uber cool. I just love the way messenger says I am already in a room I can’t even see. I love being absolutely P#@*!%& off because of bots and the people that run them and empty promises of a fix coming. I like yahoo but I love my life and what I have to enjoy so I will take my sunny days and go live a real life and the rainy days are for yahoo unless I get my indoor pool soon. My computer is used for yahoo and msn and if yahoo keeps going the way it is, I will only be using it for msn and maybe another chat service. I like interaction and conflict and to be able to do it on an anonymous level makes me feel like a “Brave Chicken”. J/K!

  11. You can beat somebody’s voice domination by ignoring them you know.

Kinda like how mass ignore works, if people dislike somebody hogging the mic, they all ignore that person real quickly and problem (aka annoyance) solved.

As for mass ignore, that can only be fixed server side.

  14. If anyone is wondering why I search for phishing, I was phished after my friend was, last summer then about a month later I found out another friends account was taken.

I have been doing it for revenge and a hobby, but since Yahoo dosn’t want to give the service I expect, why continue?

  15. you guys crack me up , why not just make all the smileys/emoticons be available!

  18. There are less emotions to pick from. You get fedup with the same emotions all the time. Do us a favor and open the all new Adobe Photoshop CS3 and create some better ones then import the saved images to image ready and create some new emotions. These are old. We need a change of emotions now and again i think.

We use emotions because we feel like using them. Everybody uses a emotion in everyday to day life.

    Comment by vb_packets — May 28, 2007 #
