Why don't yahoo rent chatrooms that the owner or a designate will have control of the chatroom to boot out those flooding the room with bots or boot out the unruly once. I for one will rent a chatroom to eliminate booters aand laggers in the chatroom

I am not sure about you guys. But I strongly feel like you folks at yahoo are wasting your time with Yahoo and its Chatrooms. I myself have moved onto Paltalk. I can no longer endure the waiting-game you guys dish out; bots, spam, this, that, the other thing. Never being able to get into chat has become a major hassle. So therefore I have finally ditched the product because its useless. However, if you were to release the Vista version of Messenger as long as the damn thing actually works right (laughs) then maybe me and others will come back to yahoo. You guys are losing to the competition. Many of Yahoo's chat users have indeed gone over to Paltalk.

On top of all of that, I still use Yahoo Messenger, because Messenger rocks, but like I said, your chat service blows. I just wished you all would finally get done beating around the bush, and taking your time with this new Vista Messenger. I have been sitting here visiting the site, for months now; waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more. Im tired of the wait. You all work, part time? Four hours a day? I mean, come on! Yahoo has been promoting "VISTA MESSENGER" for almost a year now. Either hurry up or ditch the project, seriously.

The next and last, issue I want to stress to you is; Voice Chat with Vista. This is another reason I decided to ditch yahoo for Paltalk. The reason is simple, it does not work for everybody. Build your own "New" Codec, and have it come with the next build, that way anyone using Vista can at least have Voice. I mean my goodness. Cant you guys do anything, right? Sounds to me like a bunch of Tech School Dropouts trying to program a major project. Are you guys aiming for a longtime wait, like Bill Gates did with Vista? Lets go already. Or if nothing else, release a godamn beta version to be tested by Yahoo users. We're TIRED OF THE WAITING AROUND!!!!!!

To
Product Manager,
Sahara Bacon

Thank you,Thank you very much!
So,yahoo chat brings some strictness.
What the impressions one get being on chat, joining and leaveing chat? Certainly some of that leads to make bots and booters..
The impression of chat can be changed, even this can change whole view of chat !
We knows internet is accessible by anyone from any where,so chat too, but this is where it losts sense of being togather.
Yahoo chat can be extremly powerfull, positive and creative tool in this sense..
Yahoo chat was very popular before 2005.( I hope it will get on right way :D ) Yahoo chat can go further on this way!
Yahoo can bring professionals ( who have Phds or named and described on wikipedia ) like professors, scientists, journalists, authors etc (yes, with cost) on chat. Where? Not in ordinary rooms, but in the special rooms created below each category of yahoo rooms, now this seperate room should not have any limitation about number users and 'should' have 'moderators'.So, any offensive chat can be terminated the special guest will not have his/her own id but it will be given by yahoo..when and how? This kind of chat should be scheduled with announcement on the main site of yahoo by giveing information about guests and time perfectly...
Only this is the way of chat where only the 'chat' can have upper hand on chat, this can lead to 'bright' future of yahoo chat!
Hope, kind of things will be considered.
                                       Best wishes

You keep telling us how great yahoo messengers latest version is. Yet when I install the messenger I get to see something which looks so outdated and old, it appears pre-historic. No voice, no webcam. 2 of the most important features missing. You must be wondering how I am so ungrateful when you are doing so much to make our instant messaging life wonderful. Let me clarify. The desktop world is no longer just Windows and Macs. I am part of a new Linux on desktop world. Nowadays I tend to invite my friends and relatives to get onto skype where we can atleast do voice chats even if they are on Windows while I am on Linux. It is not something I love doing, but when faced with no Yahoo options on my desktop, what am I supposed to do.
I am still positive that Yahoo will realise that it is not good to let go of customers while burying its head in the windows world. If Yahoo believes that spending resources on Linux is too much, maybe they can just turn over some of the specs to Linux programs like Gyach Improved, Kopete and Pidgin so that somebody else can try to meet the demand.

yahoo's first mistake was getting rid of user rooms .. Many a group used this section to gather . yahoo's second mistake was not paying attention to the ever growing problem of Bots and Booters . Yahoo used to Be one of the better chat programs offered , now sadly yahoo has become a JOKE. Yahoo's quest to stop children from being exploited is a farce , Lets face it the only way to stop a child from being taken advantage of in a chat room is a Parents responsability not a chat servers . SO yahoo admin hows about we forget all the special features and go back to your older format .

all yahoo has to do is encypt a codekey into ymsg
make it impossible for secondary clients to work

booting is just sending massive junk that cause buffer-overflow errors basically a macro program
used by yah-eliters and all other secondary clients
get rid of the secondary clients and there is the end to that problem you cant ban booters by ip because they use proxies to hide their ips so banning ones ip doesnt work and will not get rid of spammers or
booters

you got to encrypt a key with in messenger which checks for version

make it impossible for secondary clients
and booters spammers will be greatly reduced

You people crying about moderation make me laugh. With no moderation, witness the result? Abusive behavior, abuse of users both verbally and through text. And yes botting/clogging up the chat rooms. A little bit of moderation would be better than having the way it is now--which is bots everywhere, people clogging up the chat rooms, abusing other chatters, running the latest yahoo exploit programs..the list goes on and on.

If not an actual moderator (similar to IRC ops/voices), then at the VERY LEAST, there should be some kind of yahoo bot present in each and every chat room. People could pm the bot if they are having problems with someone. This could be similar to yahoo helper (except it should actually work). If enough people PM the bot--it could result in an escalation, perhaps send an automated alert or ticket to a tier 2 or 3 helpdesk--basically allow someone that some kind of ruckus is occuring in a particular chat room, be it this botting/room clogging, general voice chat abuse, threats, etc etc.. This could then result in an official post into the room, or an email or something--perhaps even an actual person then enters the chat room, to get things back under control.
That would be a lot better than forcing people to report chat abuse via the tired old links on yahoo--something we all know doesn't work because yahoo doesn't care--they ignore all of it. Get the culprits when they're doing it--catch them red handed and you could even suspend their ID. A bit of moderation like this is better than nothing.
As for charging--well, yahoo you know full well you could never charge and get paying customers to stay very long the way it is now. So if you DO plan to charge, you're going to have to have some type of moderation like this (pm bots, etc.), or better active monitoring to protect the paying customers.
But as it is, something needs to be done to improve it finally--once and for all.
Oh and fix your exploits in msgr too--this booting crapola has gone on far too long.
