We’re listening
April 30, 2007 on 6:17 pm | In News |
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know that we are listening. We read each and every comment that’s posted on the blog, so rest assured your concerns, suggestions, complaints are being heard. Unfortunately, we don’t always have the information at hand to respond to your comments, so your patience is appreciated. Here’s what we’ve got on the list of hot topics from our readers:
- What’s going on with the chat rooms and when will they improve?
- When is the new Yahoo! Messenger for Windows Vista coming out?
- When is the next version of Yahoo! Messenger for Mac coming out?
- Is Sarah Bacon a real person or a bot?
[Ok, that last has only been asked a few times, but that is one I can answer – yes I am a real person!]
We’re working on many of the topics that are discussed here on the blog, and I’m excited to keep you all informed as our product develops. Stay tuned – 2007 will be a busy year for Yahoo! Messenger and hopefully an exciting one for our users too.
Moving forward, we would appreciate it if you could please keep your comments on topic to the blog post. Off-topic comments will be removed. This will help make the blog more useful for all of our readers. And whenever possible, I will respond to your comments and questions.
Many thanks,
Sarah Bacon
Product Manager

So uhhh
When is the next beta of Y! Messenger for Mac comming? Spring? Summer? Next year? When Apple buys Microsoft?

I see that you are reading every comment from here, but you don’t ansewar at all.
Maybe you forgot me, that’s why I repeat my question, so, is there any possibility to put into practice these Romanian audibles?

Heheh
Comment by Lucky — May 1, 2007 #
You can’t compare Google talk and Yahoo messenger. Yahoo messenger just OutDos google talk in the amount of versatile features it has.
The only good thing about google talk is the voice chat quality is a little better than Yahoo. And that we can store our conversation in our gmail. And also, that we can control if our conversation is recorded or not.
And some of you may say that google talk can be used from within gmail…
Now come back to Yahoo messenger and see the versatile features it has.
All these talks of simplicity are bull and crap. Uninstall Yahoo messenger and MSN messenger and AIM from your computer and just keep Google talk on your computer and let me know for how many days you survive.
I am not saying that Google talk is bad. It is really good, it is simple and to the point. We need all 4 (and others) to compete and sometimes collaborate so that we consumers get the best out of them.
Comment by user — May 1, 2007 #
My suggestion is that Yahoo! should stop depending too much on PlugIn makers and it’s own engineers should work hard and fast to make improvements on messenger.
Comment by user — May 1, 2007 #
My suggestion regarding Yahoo! chat:
1) You can’t make it Pay service like Pal talk…the moment you do…I am out!
2) There should be NO room-moderator kind of thing! The moment you do that…I am out!
Just work on getting the bots out…and make those Booter programs, etc. non-compliant with Yahoo messenger…that’s it!

LMAO yet you fail to acnowledge the 500+ posts related to spam but you are listening are you for real????? yes the chat rooms seem to be working now but who wants to chat when 80% are bots and ids stuck in rooms not me for one if you are ”listening” you would address real issues like give details on the mac messenger progress or even the vista messenger but no you do not read these comments who you trying to kid we are sick of SPAM when you were reading posts did you miss the 500+ related to spam? seriously
Comment by Karl — May 1, 2007 #
Is Sarah Bacon a real person or a bot?
LMAO @ that
why can you not patch the ymsgr12 login? your ‘’support team” if you can call a series of automated form mails that lol no longer support 6.0
or even 7.0 and below that uses the ymsgr12 login so why on earth does it still work it would stop a HUGE percentage of malicious Y! related software instantly if you done that 99% of booters etc would not login and not work :l
Comment by Karl — May 1, 2007 #
The only thing yahoo messenger team has to do is drop the older protocol versions altogether like the ones that are used for logging onto yahoo chat servers in yahoo messenger 6 and 7 and force users to switch to Y!M 7.5 or 8 as the login routine of Yahoo! Messenger 8 has not yet been cracked. This will not only stop the bots but also stop the booters and chat clients dead in their tracks instantly. Yahoo should develop a completely new protocol to login on chat servers for yahoo messenger for vista which is almost impossible to crack and not be able to be used by spammers otherwise it will be very difficult to solve all these chat related problems in future.

Hello!
I’m from the beautiful country norway, and what I am wondering about is:
Can we now see our wecams with live messenger contacts?
When does the new yahoo messenger come out? for vista.
Thank for answers, love you yahoo, keep going!
Comment by Arild Lund — May 1, 2007 #
Glad to see the Mac version issue mentioned however I do not understand why you cant just come out and say yes we are still working on it or not. Its been in “beta” for over a year. Not sure anyone still feels you can possibly be working on it, if you are then release another “beta” or announce its death.

Oh I just love the new Yahoo Messenger for Vista… OMG its great!!!! WONDERFUL!!! OH wait.. that was my dream last night. HAHAHAHA Yahoo is about stupid anymore and I am sure that we all will continue to have problems with it. As for the bots..Ignore them…or better yet.. Talk to them, They are much more entertaining them 90% of the people on Yahoo Messenger anymore, and they dont snub you, lol
Comment by Amy — May 1, 2007 #
so when is the new Yahoo Messenger for Vista comeing out 2 week 3 weeks 4 week this summer this comeing fall what date am i looking at?
Comment by david — May 1, 2007 #
I have to second Alex comments. The Mac version has been Beta way too long. Are you guys going for some record? I would like to be able to use all the cool features my PC using buds have as well.
Comment by Gina — May 1, 2007 #
I have to reiterate that it is nice that you have acknowledged hearing us, but doing so without any information at all is like patting us on the head and treating us like children. This little post will not make us content or even close to it. Throw us a bone or something.
By now you should know whether or not the Vista version is coming out. Most people I know with Vista can’t chat in chat rooms even with the newest Non-Vista version of Yahoo Messenger because they can’t get voice to work.
Even though we can now get into rooms, they are still full of bots and then when we leave our names get stuck in there for what seems as hours!
Instead of Yahoo getting better it is getting worse. Unless you want to lose most of your users to other chat programs, I think you better tell us more than…..we hear you!
Comment by Karen — May 1, 2007 #
Just update Mac Messenger! A year in Beta seems like the software is dead, so just let us know if it is so that we can move on. Remember OSX sales are continually on the rise, so we are a small but significant market! And Hollywood runs on us so there!
Comment by Mac Man — May 1, 2007 #
I am haveing issues with my messanger. When i am chating with someone there display image flickers from dont show to show very quickly makeing the message window size change constantly and hard to read. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled and that did not fix it. If who ever I am talking to puts there display image on none then that fixes the problem. Any suggestions? Thanx
Comment by Robert — May 1, 2007 #
Can you please Bring back the chat rooms button to the main Window of Yahoo messenger?
Clicking on “Messenger” dropdown menu and then on “Yahoo! chat” and select “Enter chat rooms” is a lot of work.
Comment by Chris — May 1, 2007 #
I can’t stand it when I enter chat rooms and mic/voice turns on every time. Older messengers used to remember if I don’t use min/voice, not to turn it on next time I entered chat rooms.
Comment by Chris — May 1, 2007 #
The chat rooms ChatterBox, ShowBiz Central, and The Press Box under Voice Chat catagory does not let people in these rooms.
I have sent dozens of complaints to Yahoo customer care but the rooms still don’t let people in them.
The rooms have been like this since Yahoo took down Java Chat.
Can this please be fixed!!!
Comment by Chris — May 1, 2007 #
When is Yahoo cingular AT&T and some satilite(s) going to team up and offer one phone, one TV, One internet service to compete with comcast, veizon and other utility giants around the world at a very low cost to the consumer? Let’s face it, one provider, one low bill and great service for all my communication needs is the way to go and having one phone that can go wifi, internet, mobile and land line would just be icing on the cake.
Comment by David Molinari — May 1, 2007 #
I agree with all three comments by Chris. I also think chat rooms should be more inviting. Not scare people away becouse of all the problems with chat.
Comment by Heather — May 1, 2007 #
I am the person that reported over 1000 phishing webpages since September of last year. Most of them over at lycos’s Tripod and Angelfire websites.
I use search strings like this in internet searches http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Remember+my+ID+on+this+computer%22+site:geocities.com&hl=en&filter=0
All I ask in return for reporting them is please think about the three comments I made about things to make chat better. If I stop searching for phishing, There would be more of them then before I started reporting them. They remake two pages for every one I report.
Comment by Chris — May 1, 2007 #
Just so you can’t ignore the chat room problems I suggested to fix and search for the pages yourself. The search string I gave only finds old style phishing webpages, Also thats not even a good search engine to look for them but it is better then Yahoo or MSN search. The seach engine I use I think only a few people heard of it before.
Comment by Chris — May 1, 2007 #
Please release yahoo messenger for mac with voice support asap!, there are only two apps which support voice chat on macs one is Skype and the other is ichat.
A year in beta for yahoo messenger with not many competitive features does not make it a very good choice. Currently, I would rather avoid yahoo messenger than use the buggy build for mac.
Comment by Paul — May 1, 2007 #
David Molinari,
We already have those kinda phones in West Europe…specially France. People in United States are living in medieval ages.
Comment by user — May 1, 2007 #
I agree with my fellow Mac users.. When is this thing going to be out of Beta? Not that I’m a fan of Windows by any means, but I think Windows Vista itself was in beta for less time than Yahoo Messenger has been! And when are we going to see all the other features like photosharing, pc calling, and yahoo chat on a mac? Im sick and tired of trying to connect to a chat room with another messaging client!
Now, I’m not saying that i could develop this software myself, but with the resources that Yahoo has, this should not be a difficult task to make a Mac version with the same features that the Windows version has.
Comment by Jeremy — May 1, 2007 #
Is developing a Messenger for Vista so hard? Can I give you a hand? lol
Comment by Hessan — May 1, 2007 #
The problem with Yahoo chat rooms is that Yahoo has no vision in that area. Until chat rooms are seen as strategic to Yahoo their support will languish.
Comment by David — May 1, 2007 #
As a citizen of the internet, I am ashamed at you Yahoo! You’re providing me a free service and I WANT IT FIXED NOW!
If you do not comply to my simple demands, I am simply going to cry on your blogs about it until either:
A) I die.
B) I rob a bank and get enough money to buy Yahoo! and turn it into the chatopia I’ve always dreamed about.
C) I realize what a loser I am and go outside.
Comment by Mr. Snuffalupagus — May 2, 2007 #
Haha ^^
People, what makes you think they are still developing YM for Vista? They could be in the testing phase. I know from experience that the testing phase of an application can be quite lengthy.
Chill out, be patient, and show some respect. It is FREEWARE after all. When you guys start paying for this product then you can start making demands. If anyone can complain it could be the advertisers, the users not so much. Sorry.
Comment by FF — May 2, 2007 #
but the latest build of 8.1 is still having problems with vista. that’s why i can’t wait for YM fa Vista to be released!
Comment by Hessan — May 2, 2007 #
Same person, should stop complaining about same thing every day! The rest of us are getting tired of Messenger for Vista, Messenger for Mac, Chat room, etc. You have mentioned the problem…Yahoo! has taken note of it (as we can see from the post above)…
Now wait for 15 days at least to see a response.
You can vent your frustration but you can’t complaint…there is a difference!
P.S.: The only people I sympathise right at the moment is the ones from Mac…although I am an avid Windows XP user…there is no one word from Yahoo messenger for Mac so yahoo should specify what are it’s future plans for them.
The rest of the problems will be solved…let’s have patience for a few days and enjoy the great things we already have.
Comment by user — May 2, 2007 #
How about a moderator for the chat rooms who simply kicks the bots all day? Heh heh. Not one who interferes with the chatting but actually facilitates chats.
Comment by mena — May 2, 2007 #
Hi
All i want to say is that instead of just typing to users Yahoo! is listening to user feedbacks. Show us users that Yahoo! is actually addressing the feedbacks, issues and problems that we users have posted. All i see from Yahoo! is just the talk, but not much action. I have patience, but it won’t last forever.

Comment by Les — May 2, 2007 #
You say you are listening, But you didn’t even mention the one clear overwhelming problem that is mentioned by virtually everyone over and over again. The bots. It is as if you don’t even acknowledge that it is a problem. Why is this not the number one item on the priority list? Users are leaving in droves because of the loss of functionality they cause. Yet when you list the problems you have been “listening to”, that isn;t included? It makes me wonder just what it is you are listening to? SAY SOMETHING about them. Even if it is simply we know and don’t care! PLEASE!!!!
Comment by Bill — May 2, 2007 #
Hi all,
When I mentioned in the post that chat rooms were one of the hot topics in the comments, I’m referring to all the issues that go along with them - spam, bots, booters, sign-in issues, lack of voice in Vista etc. Thanks,
Sarah Bacon
Comment by Administrator — May 2, 2007 #
I think I was fair with my request of things to fix in Yahoo. chat.http://blog.messenger.yahoo.com/blog/2007/04/30/were-listening/#comment-5151
Two of them are problems that should be fixed and one is a suggestion.
Without Yahoo chat how are people suppose to make friends with Yahoo messenger? Yahoo Chat should be the most important part of messenger that does not cost to use. of course the Call feature is the most important becouse you make money off it.
Comment by Chris — May 2, 2007 #
Hey Adam,
How do you have any patience left? I for one have been complaining about the bots and spam for years. If Yahoo was listening they would have fixed this years ago. Why would they all of a sudden do it now? If Yahoo is really going to fix it, lets see how many more years it takes.
Comment by Chris — May 2, 2007 #
I see that you are very angry, but don’t worry I think that they will fix the problem soon
… Just hope, pal:D
Comment by Pascalin Silviu — May 2, 2007 #
Pascalin,
I’m not mad. I talked to someone at Yahoo about a year ago and they told me the bot problem can’t be fixed. He told me Yahoo tried to suppress them like block there messeges and other stuff but nothing worked.
So don’t count on the bot and spam problem being fixed. There has to be a reason that they don’t patch the ymsgr13 protocol.
I on the other hand would like other things fixed that i posted above.
Why complain about something that they can’t fix?
Comment by Chris — May 2, 2007 #
I don’t even know if I’ve gone somewhere to find help. Last night when I turned off my computer at work, everything was fine. This morning when I came in to work, I could not sign in to Yahoo! Messenger. I did all the things it told me to do and more; I even cleared my Cache (horrors! really!) but I apparently no longer exist, though the screen name I’ve been using for years is “not available.”
What can I do? I tried to go to Answers to post this question, but since I don’t exist, I cannot avail myself of this feature.
HELP!

Comment by Venom — May 2, 2007 #
OK. I’ll admit it. You answered my comment. I have to admit that it was a pleasant surprise! First time I ever got an actual answer to anything yahoo related at all! Hopefully, this is a sign that customer service really has become important to you folks.
Now let’s hope that there really is something that can be done about the overwhelming plague of bots. Acknowledging the problem to us poor beleaguered chatters is, at least, a start.
Comment by William Simpson — May 2, 2007 #
Mena,
I DONT WANT A MODERATOR FOR CHAT ROOMS. I don’t want to live under the whims of any person. If someone wants to be a moderator they can create their own conversations and invite any one and they can have the ability their to kick anyone. Having a moderator in chat rooms is not accepted at all. Yahoo! can just get rid of Booters and Bots and the rooms will be fine.
Comment by user — May 3, 2007 #
It’s simple. Stop concentrating on new features and fix current problems. It’s one thing to say that you’re listening, but at least share with us some progress on how you plan to solve the problems that we’re experiencing. My personal pet peeve is the outdated TV rooms list, where the majority of the rooms are for shows that are no longer on the schedule. “Gideon’s Crossing?” Hasn’t been on for 6 years. “That’s Life” ran until January 2002. “The Rudy Giuliani Story?” A TV movie from March of 2003. All have rooms, but none for CSI, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy or other current hit shows. A large group of us have been asking for the return of the Big Brother room, which irregardless of it having been well populated, was inceremoniously removed from the rooms list after the 2nd season. I have brought this to your attention literally dozens of times. Sure, you’re listening, but then what?
Comment by Wayne Harke — May 3, 2007 #
So, you’re listening? Then listen to this: I’ve UNINSTALLED YM after the latest upgrade, which set my home page to http://www.yahoo.com, installed Yahoo! Toolbar and a bunch of other stuff I don’t want to have on my computer. Will never use YM again (was a YM user since uhm… at least Y2K).
Comment by Vyacheslav — May 4, 2007 #
Hi Vyacheslav,
If you’d like to reinstall Messenger without the homepage change and toolbar, just click the “Custom Install” link during installation. This will allow you to uncheck the Homepage and Toolbar box before the installation occurs. Thanks,

I am curious when Yahoo will do something about the ‘chat gangs’ on yahoo. There is one called ‘p3ac3_k33p3rs’ that has locked down several rooms and is terrorizing the people that chat in them with booters. One of the current rooms is BBW and Admirers: 69 … it has been filled with their bots for several days not allowing the people that generally go to this room to enjoy eachothers company. We are aware that there are other rooms and have temporarily moved and today they came into the new room and informed the chatters that they will close that room too. Yahoo says they collect IP’s . Can’t you use those to chat ban the bots that are in there? I have enjoyed chat with Yahoo for alot of years and it seems that groups like this are getting worse in their abuse every day.
Thank Alot, Mary

Hi Jenn,
Here’s how to put the skins to use:
1) Open the .zip file with WinZip.
2) Extract all the files into C:\. Make sure that “Use folder names” is checked. If Yahoo! Messenger is installed on a different hard drive, replace “C:\” with the appropriate drive letter.
3) Select Change Skin… from the Messenger menu.
More details on the Skins feature can be found here:

I’ve been in Yahoo since it began, and have seen many changes.
It seems to be the biggest problem that people are complaining about is the BOTs.
Years ago, each category only had about 30 rooms, now each category has anywhere from 200-400 rooms. People are spread out all over, that you can no longer find people to chat with. The rooms keep opening and filling with bots.
It would seem to me that the easiest and acceptable fix would be that anyone who wanted to join a chat room, would have to enter a code, like we do when we create an ID. That code proves you are a real person.
It would take care of so many problems and would stop people from leaving yahoo to go to other chat places.
I totally DISAGREE with moderators in a room. I’ve seen that, and all it is is a power struggle.
If you don’t like the room, leave. Simple as that.
Ok, so this is all my opinion only. hehehe but seems a simple fix.
Comment by Netti — May 15, 2007 #
About 6 weeks ago a message was sent by Yahoo to a person concerned with the chat situation stating that nothing could/would be done until May 14. It is now May 15 and still….NO NEWS. Has AT&T forced the Yahoo staff into exile? Do commitments and promises mean nothing to the Yahoo corporate structure these days? I cannot remember when I have seen a system that was working very well (1-2 years ago) follow a steady and predictable path in the wrong direction. Yahoo has addressed a 1% problem (online predators) by implementing measures that affect tens of thousands of legitimate chatters adversely. There are options and knowledge available to the Yahoo programmers/corporate structure which would allow Yahoo to make chat enjoyable again, but it seems that the current mindset precludes any willlingness to LISTEN to your customer base. Yahoo took one on the chin from it’s advertisers and the government last year, and now (like some washed up prize-fighter) refuses to get back on your feet and fight the good fight. Please bring chat back to a level of service commensurate with your experience Yahoo. Your loyal followers will appreciate you more than you could know.
Comment by Rocky Raccoon — May 15, 2007 #
Not only they are not listening..But whenever a comment or a suggestion gets posted..it gets deleted. That is very un-professional. Yah..they may be doing some improvements on there chat thing with there ongoing maitenance (which I thing that would only solve about 5% of the simple things, and we’ll still have many problems with yahoo chat), but, they also need to improve on there customer service. Don’t forget.. some of us are “PAYING” customers for AT%T Yahoo services, and for the paid Yahoo email. Don’t you think that we deserve a little more respect?? I know this comment will get deleted within a few hours..who cares..LOL. But dont forget, Yahoo will soon lose populeraty (Just like Microsoft is starting to now). And more and more people are going to choose alternatives to search, chat, and other services from other providers (such as Google).
True.. Chat needs to be improved, there needs to be a messenger for Vista, and an updated messenger for Mac (I guess). But, what really needs to be improved is there relationship with there customers. Thats all I’m gonna post in this comment for now.

lets face it folk, yahoo PROFITS from the chat spam-bots……all they have to do is count them as USERS , and then use the artificially inflated user counts to charge their ad-banner advertisers even more money…Thats right, yahoo gets cash every time they flash an ad-banner in front of u (or a bot)

Make YM for Mac with the same features that YM for PC has.

When are you Going to do something about the booters. Like John Edwards. He has locked down 40s 4 once again. Your only making more booters by letting people like him do this. Because now we all are getting booting programs to fight back. Kinda stupid complaing to yahoo ,they do nothing. Thank you. Allen

I hope you KNOWS about it. And i am hopefull that YAHOO will solutionlize this problem. I was just chating in a room, and suddenly a bunch of bots got occupied that room, and i was seeing it… it was One( me) and all those 49 (i count it! ) ..came when ever a genuine chatter leaved the room…and then i also leaved it.. what is solution for it… why not bring some thing like asking text to type whenever one enters in yahoo chat!!? and and it should be asked with every 30 minutes!! i am sure bots cant do that.. !!
Comment by Nailthoms — May 27, 2007 #

You people crying about moderation make me laugh. With no moderation, witness the result? Abusive behavior, abuse of users both verbally and through text. And yes botting/clogging up the chat rooms. A little bit of moderation would be better than having the way it is now–which is bots everywhere, people clogging up the chat rooms, abusing other chatters, running the latest yahoo exploit programs..the list goes on and on.
If not an actual moderator (similar to IRC ops/voices), then at the VERY LEAST, there should be some kind of yahoo bot present in each and every chat room. People could pm the bot if they are having problems with someone. This could be similar to yahoo helper (except it should actually work). If enough people PM the bot–it could result in an escalation, perhaps send an automated alert or ticket to a tier 2 or 3 helpdesk–basically allow someone that some kind of ruckus is occuring in a particular chat room, be it this botting/room clogging, general voice chat abuse, threats, etc etc.. This could then result in an official post into the room, or an email or something–perhaps even an actual person then enters the chat room, to get things back under control.
That would be a lot better than forcing people to report chat abuse via the tired old links on yahoo–something we all know doesn’t work because yahoo doesn’t care–they ignore all of it. Get the culprits when they’re doing it–catch them red handed and you could even suspend their ID. A bit of moderation like this is better than nothing.
As for charging–well, yahoo you know full well you could never charge and get paying customers to stay very long the way it is now. So if you DO plan to charge, you’re going to have to have some type of moderation like this (pm bots, etc.), or better active monitoring to protect the paying customers.
But as it is, something needs to be done to improve it finally–once and for all.
Oh and fix your exploits in msgr too–this booting crapola has gone on far too long.

all yahoo has to do is encypt a codekey into ymsg
make it impossible for secondary clients to work
booting is just sending massive junk that cause buffer-overflow errors basically a macro program
used by yah-eliters and all other secondary clients
get rid of the secondary clients and there is the end to that problem you cant ban booters by ip because they use proxies to hide their ips so banning ones ip doesnt work and will not get rid of spammers or
booters
you got to encrypt a key with in messenger which checks for version
make it impossible for secondary clients
and booters spammers will be greatly reduced

Hey all look at my post at dated 27 may…
Now, you know where MINE idea working?
check yahoo games, they will ask you 2 type text, hehehe… .. we need bot less and more secure yahoo messanger !

yahoo’s first mistake was getting rid of user rooms .. Many a group used this section to gather . yahoo’s second mistake was not paying attention to the ever growing problem of Bots and Booters . Yahoo used to Be one of the better chat programs offered , now sadly yahoo has become a JOKE. Yahoo’s quest to stop children from being exploited is a farce , Lets face it the only way to stop a child from being taken advantage of in a chat room is a Parents responsability not a chat servers . SO yahoo admin hows about we forget all the special features and go back to your older format .

You keep telling us how great yahoo messengers latest version is. Yet when I install the messenger I get to see something which looks so outdated and old, it appears pre-historic. No voice, no webcam. 2 of the most important features missing. You must be wondering how I am so ungrateful when you are doing so much to make our instant messaging life wonderful. Let me clarify. The desktop world is no longer just Windows and Macs. I am part of a new Linux on desktop world. Nowadays I tend to invite my friends and relatives to get onto skype where we can atleast do voice chats even if they are on Windows while I am on Linux. It is not something I love doing, but when faced with no Yahoo options on my desktop, what am I supposed to do.
I am still positive that Yahoo will realise that it is not good to let go of customers while burying its head in the windows world. If Yahoo believes that spending resources on Linux is too much, maybe they can just turn over some of the specs to Linux programs like Gyach Improved, Kopete and Pidgin so that somebody else can try to meet the demand.

Thank you,Thank you very much!
) Yahoo chat can go further on this way!
So,yahoo chat brings some strictness.
What the impressions one get being on chat, joining and leaveing chat? Certainly some of that leads to make bots and booters..
The impression of chat can be changed, even this can change whole view of chat !
We knows internet is accessible by anyone from any where,so chat too, but this is where it losts sense of being togather.
Yahoo chat can be extremly powerfull, positive and creative tool in this sense..
Yahoo chat was very popular before 2005.( I hope it will get on right way
Yahoo can bring professionals ( who have Phds or named and described on wikipedia ) like professors, scientists, journalists, authors etc (yes, with cost) on chat. Where? Not in ordinary rooms, but in the special rooms created below each category of yahoo rooms, now this seperate room should not have any limitation about number users and ’should’ have ‘moderators’.So, any offensive chat can be terminated the special guest will not have his/her own id but it will be given by yahoo..when and how? This kind of chat should be scheduled with announcement on the main site of yahoo by giveing information about guests and time perfectly…
Only this is the way of chat where only the ‘chat’ can have upper hand on chat, this can lead to ‘bright’ future of yahoo chat!
Hope, kind of things will be considered.
Best wishes

getting a little tired of having to remove messenger and reload it. you have people sending viruses that disable yahoo messenger programs. also you have people bragging that they sent bots to people and booted them when are you going to do something about these people? need to look @ nc rm 2 the people i am refering to are usually in that room. im sure other states have the same trouble. who gives these people the right to say who can come into a room and stay. also the language in this room is beyond what anyone wants to hear. bots are also on the comeback. please do something about this.

I am not sure about you guys. But I strongly feel like you folks at yahoo are wasting your time with Yahoo and its Chatrooms. I myself have moved onto Paltalk. I can no longer endure the waiting-game you guys dish out; bots, spam, this, that, the other thing. Never being able to get into chat has become a major hassle. So therefore I have finally ditched the product because its useless. However, if you were to release the Vista version of Messenger as long as the damn thing actually works right (laughs) then maybe me and others will come back to yahoo. You guys are losing to the competition. Many of Yahoo’s chat users have indeed gone over to Paltalk.
On top of all of that, I still use Yahoo Messenger, because Messenger rocks, but like I said, your chat service blows. I just wished you all would finally get done beating around the bush, and taking your time with this new Vista Messenger. I have been sitting here visiting the site, for months now; waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more. Im tired of the wait. You all work, part time? Four hours a day? I mean, come on! Yahoo has been promoting “VISTA MESSENGER” for almost a year now. Either hurry up or ditch the project, seriously.
The next and last, issue I want to stress to you is; Voice Chat with Vista. This is another reason I decided to ditch yahoo for Paltalk. The reason is simple, it does not work for everybody. Build your own “New” Codec, and have it come with the next build, that way anyone using Vista can at least have Voice. I mean my goodness. Cant you guys do anything, right? Sounds to me like a bunch of Tech School Dropouts trying to program a major project. Are you guys aiming for a longtime wait, like Bill Gates did with Vista? Lets go already. Or if nothing else, release a godamn beta version to be tested by Yahoo users. We’re TIRED OF THE WAITING AROUND!!!!!!

Why don’t yahoo rent chatrooms that the owner or a designate will have control of the chatroom to boot out those flooding the room with bots or boot out the unruly once. I for one will rent a chatroom to eliminate booters aand laggers in the chatroom
