I cant seem to get the new yahoo mail.As soon as i log anew page appears asking me to go to mail box.What do i do.Is it because i have not downloaded the messenger yet.

Regarding comment by Sarah Bacon, “To disable the chat in Yahoo! Mail, go up to the status menu next to your Yahoo! ID when you’re signed in and change it to “Disable chat”. This will keep you offline in IM when you’re in Mail. If you want to then get online, just access that menu in the future and change it to Available.” Thanks for the instructions, they work but this disablement needs to be a lot more obvious in the GUI.

Robin - Yahoo! Mail notifications in Messenger can be disabled under Preferences. When you’re in Messenger, click on the “Messenger” menu and choose “Preferences”. Then click on the ‘Alerts & Sounds’ item on the left hand side. You’ll see a menu come up where you can indicate which alerts you want to receive. Click on “I receive a message in Yahoo! Mail” and then uncheck all the “Alert me by:” boxes below to disable it. Be sure to click “Apply” to confirm the changes.

Can any one tell me the way how to disable the mail update on yahoo messenger. means when ever the new mail come to my yahoo mail box and pop up comes on the right corner I just want to disable that feature can any one Help me in regarding that feature plz mail it to me

Why doesn’t yahoo do something about flood of bots in every chatroom. I used to use yahoo chat but not anymore. It is almost impossible to have decent chat without getting tons of IM from these bots. And I do not get how they even create that many aliases. I actually see the same alias in more than one room at once………

How do you disable this feature? I do not want to be made available for chat or have chat windows pop up when I’m checking my email at work. If this can’t be done, I’ll switch back to the old version, as the beta/2.0 gets more and more annoying.
