Why can’t I choose who I want to come up in my chat list, like Gmail… and not have people I don’t particularly want to talk to see when I’m online and jump in and chat with me whenever they want.???! There are email friends and there are Chat friends yet this stupid feature tells ME who’s who. What a joke.

Was hoping to find some answers here but am only seeing others have the same issue and no one is fixing the problem. My husband is doing contract work for the government but he was admonished today for checking his Yahoo email BECAUSE OF THE IM. He is not allowed to check his mail now. From all the posts I have read, why hasn’t anyone come up with an opt out switch? and as J Beckham said, it would be nice to find some answers without having to go through 2,307,000,090 hits My husband and I both have been yahoo users for many years but this could change that.. I really dont want to stop using an email Ive used for a decade. Thanks for your help.

Yahoo mail user here, about to be former user. The new browser chat implementation is about to lose a customer for you. Please release or develop a way to turn off this binary abomination and put your client’s privacy and choices back in their hands. Please?

If such a method for disabling the browser based yahoo messenger exists, please post is somewhere accessible so that your clients don’t have to dig through 2,307,000,090 hits on a search engine to find it.

I don’t necessarily want to broadcast my presence online every time I need to crack my browser open to do something. I’ve had accounts with yahoo for well over a decade, but this last round of changes is making me feel like a Gmail kind of guy.

PLEASE!! this feature is kicking me out from my messenger. Also logs on automaticaly ON LINE.
Also I HATE IT.

And one more thing. It is realy anoying. PLEASE AN OPTION TO REMOVE IT IF WE DO NOT, AN WE DO NOT, LIKE IT.

Hi. Nice blog..I’m wonderingif you could help me. I just susbscribed to yahoo messenger to sms. Is there any means / service that will forward my incoming emails to my IM id as chat message so that i can read emails as sms in my phone?
So far, the integration has been chat feature in Y mail and not otherwise. .

That new window forced into my yahoo mail interface with the Yahoo Chat & Mobile Text is possibly the most annoying, rudest thing Yahoo has done. Also, why on earth can’t I disable/remove it competely? I disconnect that window and move on. If I log off or close my browser and log back in, it starts up all over again. How really riddiculous is that?

The programmer responsible should be put on the unemployment line with the manager that approved his/her actions following 1 step behind.

I keep getting messages to approve users for yahoo messenger inside my yahoo mail the last few Days i agree with above , what gives you the right to Violate our privacy ? You do what you want BUT not what the people want, All you who work for Yahoo and think these are good ideas, who the F are you. Its time the people stood up and said Enough is enough if we don’t have a vote / say in what we want and don’t want,Time for you to go. Law suits would move it right along.
Also this captcha security BS that got started Means little to nothing, because it does NOT stop the BOTS its annoying and BS, BUT i’ll bet you what the say and what its REALLY used for is a whole different ballgame and if your not sitting in the boardrooms and know what the REAL deal is,They come out and tell you to tell the people this and you go for it all like ponds on a chessboard.
